I lost my keys... damn... Now what?

Buckshot, of course it is, lol, its ALWAYS the last place you look, even if you find it in the first place you look, thats also now the last place... Life is FUNNY!
Eh, if worse comes to worse, I'll just buy a lock set and replace all my locks and ignition... I never could unlock my hatch only the pull cord would do it, and that sucks when yur tryin to load groceries... Thats right, I said it, I use my Supra as a grocery getter sometimes... Well, I USED it, havent really put anything back there in a long time, lol...
And that does make sense, I dont think i could lock my keys in the glove box, or wait could I? If someone gets a minute, go out to your car and open the glove box, and with it open, lock it and then shut it and see if it stays locked...

Jake, if you want to drive over to Satsuma tomorrow, I have the locks out of my grey car you can have. Only problem is the glove box and hatch locks are gone. But your ignition and doors would match.
Jake yes you can lock the box and then close it and it stays locked ,I justed ckecked . You do realize that there is like 3 screws at the bottom of the hinge that you can take out but you still might not be able to get to the keys. Good luck .Reign_Maker said:

Dont feel too bad Jake i lost my check book so now i cant pay my bills .LOL On this note i think i am going to get spare keys made tomorrow.:naughty:

Did you not pull your harness when you pulled your motor? How would you have hooked back to your ECU? The glove box must have gotten locked lately.Off he goes to view engine bay pics.

Jake, I just went out to my new shell, with the glove box on the floor. I hung the top end on the hook, with the screws out of the bottom, and the lower panel out of the way. I could get my hand into the glove box, but only far enough to say I got it in there. I believe if your keys were in there, they could be retreived with a screw driver or something.
FT: thanks man... Its not like I need them NOW, it'll be a while... I really only need to get in there if someone buys my ecu... Im sure my keys will turn up... Still would like to get a hatch lock though, it is really handy to be able to use the key...

1st, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A TOYOTA MASTER KEY!!! Most automotive locks use blades (flat pieces of metal of varying size with a rectangular hole in them) there is no place for stacking as there is with cylindrical tumblers!
2nd, MOST automotive manufacturers place a coded key number on ONE of the car's chassis tags (sometimes they're under the hood, sometimes they're in the door jamb, in a couple rare cases I've seen them on the steering column or under the door sill). This is what locksmiths typically start with in the case of a lost key.
3rd, again, MOST (not all) auto manufacturers will stamp the original key code on one of the vehicle's primary lock cylinders (doors, trunk or ignition).
4th, SOME automotive door locks are rebuildable and rekeyable... ours are. The blades (tumblers) are the most common wear point. More often than not getting the blades replaced (even if you're not getting it rekeyed) will solve the issue of other peoples keys working on your car.
My advise, instead of constantly swapping out locksets looking for one that's still tight and free of play or continually worrying about getting a complete set of matched locks would be to take your existing lockset out, check for play in the cylinder, if that's fine take them to a competent locksmith and have all the blades (aka tumblers) replaced.

Well the first thing you could so is if you know there's not going to be anything else in the glovebox, unscrew the two lower hinges and get the box hanging... shake it around a little and see if you hear keys.... it'll work better if there's more than on key on the ring of course.
If you can verify the keys are in there PM me and I'll give takes a lot of practice typically and the proper tools, but there's a reason you may get lucky with the glovebox. PM me though... I will *not* post this info.
Yes our locks can be rekeyed. Some locksmiths won't do it just due to lack of the proper equipment or because a lot of auto locks are sealed units. If you can't find someone locally to rebuild them let me know.
I had to open my glove box and it was locked too. The mode of failure is for a little nub inside that white plastic thing on the back of the key set in the glove box to fail. If you have another Supra open the Glovebox and remove that plastic cover inside the glovebox that covers the key mechanism and look carefully at how it works. I was able to use a pic/scribe to squeez inbetween that plastic cover (inside) and slide that mechanism inside the latch and finally open it. be careful you can dammage the glove box cover and it really dosent seem repairable. It only took like 30 seconds once I completely understood how that mechanism worked. I fumbled with it for more than 10 minutes before I had looked at the mechanism and knew exacly where to push though.
Also if that piece of plastic breaks the mode of failure is to lock the glovebox. Chances are you didnt lock it, the little tab inside the white plastic piece just gave up one last time, the last time you closed the glovebox.

well if you want akey for the tubler then you have to take it off and bring ti to lock smith and he will make a key for you this cost more then gettgin reg key cut
This shouldn't be such a big deal. The key for my Supra was worn to shit, so I gave my local toyota dealership my VIN & proof of ownership. $20 later I had three brand new keys.
