At a local meet some kids came up to my car and their "leader" was talking to the rest as if he was the expert on cars, and explained to his friends that my car had a 1jz instead of a 2jz because it was wider wile hes doing this wider motion with his hands...

My car has a 1UZ in it.

the most well....interesting race between a ricer and I was a Sentra.

At least he may have thought i was racing. in reality, he was racing his shadow.

I get revved at all the time by kids who watch too much F&F.

Great story, these start my day off right.
I’m not sure what is worse having those types of jokers, of having the ones that think our sup's are 240's or probe's. Next person that asks me if it is a probe I’m going to respond with “how did you know what kind of forged pistons I had in my engine, are you spying on me?”:biglaugh:

oh, i absolutely did. but i left so baffled, confused, and pissed off. i didnt know what to do...

how does someone spin out going in a strait line after shifting 7 times? how is a 10 sec quarter mile like 5 mins long? why if damage to the manifold was imminent did his diamond plate floorboard drop out?

and most of all, WHY WHEN MY CAR SPITS FLAME DOES IT NOT MATCH MY PAINT???

haha

ROFLMAO!!! The flames matching the paint thats great. What I love is the 2 girls that spraypainted a line across to start the race in the STREET!?!?!

When, Ja Rule says " There is enough NOS there to blow himself up"

Like you can tell that by just looking at a car.

in all seriousness that movie did create a huge problem, but it may have also helped the car scene out by the hype surrounding it.

but in the end I would have rather done without it.

The movie exposed and publicly advertised the tuner market industry. After that movie, the tuner market rocketed sky high. Just look at SEMA and the industry it represents there's tons of $$ in it.

Personally, I like the movie. I just try to ignore all the talking and only listen to the cars. You have to admit, they do look and sound good, even though the rest is bullshit.

Unfortunately, the movie SCREWED us all on the Supra Market... and is the source of propagation for MANY misnomers about import cars and tuner performance in general... it also OVER-sensationalizes the entire "concept" of street racing... and has promoted less-than-becoming behavior among thousands upon thousands of "wanna-be" youth.

There may be a few "counter-points" to be made... such as "the movie(s) were entertaining" (to an extent...) but hardly what I would call our "niche hobby's" shining moment.

(I may be a little less forgiving, as I was into these things back in the late eighties, before every kid and his BROTHER were into the "tech" aspect of import cars...)

On a lighter note... I did see some interesting cultural insights that captured SOME aspects of the juxtaposition of OLD Japan with NEW Japan... even if the movie did take some poetic license.

What I think is funny is how a lot of people on here get reved at and people trying to start sh*t. I hardly ever get anything that trys to give me crap and I've even got the whole body kit thing going on.. of course a lot of people know my car around town and at least have a general idea of whats under the hood. Most riced out cars will just roll by me acting like Im not there, I get the occasional times where one will start riding my ass, when I get annoyed one pop from the two step and they tend to back off fairly quick. lol
Even most of the old school muscle car guys will nod as we pass each other and have a general resect for one another, I had a GTO pull up next to me when I was at BW3's and he said he was simply amazed by the work in the car....now he bought his son one and is paying me to work on it lol. The other run in from a few days ago was a guy with a procharged fully bulit mustang stoped and talked for almost an hour at the auto parts store.

I must say the one exception would be fox body mustangs...those things around here will rev at just about anybody rolling down the street with an exhaust.
