When I scroll up or down a page, instead of the page moving fluidly, it pulses... That make sense? Like sections move up, then the next section catches up... Is this an easy fix? Something with settings?

Mines seems to do soo...it isn't moving very fluidly...But that's how the mouse scroll button works, right?
Or is yours even worse?

What your processor speed?
How much memory do you have?
Do you have enough hard drive space?

Did it slow down recently?
Sometimes its spyware/virus...maybe visiting too many pornsites and picked up spyware...:evil2:

Also you could run dish checking and defrag...It should clean up and oraganize data on your drive better.

Cheers,
Roy

Well, its my dad's comp... *out of town working with him* And I was like Dad, this shit would drive me nuts! "I dunno why it does that son"... So thought I'd ask...

Im not sure what the specs are, I'll ask him when he comes back... But you're probably right Roy, its probably a memory thing... My dad has a retarded amount of stuff saved on this hard drive...

I am assuming you already did some of this, but it never hurts to state the obvious JIC:

1. Control Panel > Mouse

Depending on the mouse software you have, you may have different options for smooth scrolling and lines scrolled per input.

Have you recently started using a new mouse? Is it an original mouse?

2. Could be a hardware problem

Monitor compatibility, refresh rate, vram, ram, etc... This is not really likely with the caliber of today's systems.

3. Spyware/registry problems

Can cause all sorts of nonsense. If anybody here does not already have Spyware Blaster, get it. It is free, and you use it in addition to whatever spyware scanner you are using. Spyware Blaster prevents known profiles from ever installing in your computer.

As far as registry issues go, it's hard to fix them if you don't know what you are doing. Using an automatic registry repair program is pretty risky. That said, keeping a clean registry is one of the best things you can do to keep everything running correctly.

If you are going to break down and buy an automatic program, PC Tools Registry Mechanic is consistently rated the best, and I haven't had to fix problems for people running this program.

If you are running XP or previous and having problems in IE, install firefox and see if the problems remain.

Only in a browser, or in documents, PDFs, etc? What browser and operating system?

Turn off "smooth scrolling" in your browser. I've always had problems with this and it's one of the first settings I change when I install a new browser.

It's under Tools->Options->Advanced under Firefox.

whats the refresh rate on your mon too? when its set too slow it will drag out like that a good refresh is 75+. if you only have 512mb of ram i would close background programs as well.

Yes, you'll need to get a spyware scanner to remove whatever is in there already. Spybot does the job, but is a little buggy at times. Ad-aware SE (old version) seems to get everything Spybot does + a bit more, without the bugs.

I had been running Spybot AND Ad aware daily and always picking up two or three things (too many porn sites, I guess). Since I got spyware blaster a year ago, I haven't gotten ANY spyware/adware... ANY.... I only end up doing Ad aware every month or so now...

A registry stores all sorts of information about the computer. Settings and preferences can get messed up if there are registry problems. Learning how to fix registry problems and remove outdated/broken entries DRAMATICALLY speeds up start up and operation speed.

It takes a while to get comfortable altering the registry by hand, but many registry "cleaners" can do more harm than good. If you feel like using one, PC Tools Registry Mechanic is the best ($40), Abexo is free and pretty decent as well.
