Have you tried calling the county and explaining your situation to them?

I would try to find out the names of the people that were there when you served your last weekend. There's no guarantee that they will remember you, but it's worth a try.

In past experiences with this kind of shit, they don't care if you are innocent or not. They want it closed, as quickly as possible.

I've spent 2 weeks in jail, because of a guy that LITERALLY CLAIMED I put a 350lbs piece of roughly 6'x6' piece of glass on my back, and ran almost 20 miles with it.

The American judicial system is NOT innocent until proven guilty, I'm sorry if you still think that. :(

As unjust and preposterous as it is, Doward is correct. Without a lawyer, they will run roughshod over your rights, and unfortunately, lawyers are expensive.

If it were failure to convict equals that they pay your legal fees - then you would see a very different system...

Doward, have you found out for sure what the charge is for?

John - Are there any other options $$$ wise that would fund a lawyer? Say a loan?

I hate to see you flush your time/effort on the Supra...but, I also understand you have to do what's necessary to stay out of this situation.

I hate to see me flush almost 3 years of work down the drain - but I can't afford to take 2 months and sit in fucking jail playing chess and twiddling my thumbs when I should be, oh, I dunno, studying differential equations.

Dude,

Seriously, write a letter like that, requesting lawyers take your case pro-bono and help you get past this "injustice".

Send it to every lawyer in town, odds are someone will help.

Lawyers do a lot of pro-bono work, and this is a case where the system is screwing someone's hard work up.

Generally you don't get a warrant for the hell of it, and I'd ask you this, how do you know theres a warrant? let me guess someone you know or are related to has had a visit from the local sheriffs office looking for you perhaps. Since I enter warrants amongst many other talents at my department I can tell you they are not allowed to tell you yes or no in regards to an active warrant, you can go to any local agency and bring photo ID nad be ran through NCIC and it will print off the warrant, if you have one they will take you into custody but you can bond out on the spot assuming you bring your debit card or cash. Failure to appear is a common warrant and thats what I'm thinking your's is, unless you failed to go in for jail time from a driving while suspended, which normally requires weekend jail service or straight 15 or 30 day sentence(depending on the state). Another note too, warrants do not go away, so if you plan to join the military, get a federal job, buy a firearm or a lot of other things they will deny you until you take care of it, even the lame lil 100 warrants for FTA on traffic crimes or parking tickets.

Just go get ran and take care of it, a lawyer won't be able to do a thing for you, and in some cases it makes it worse, if the warrants for daddy and not you they will know since the warrant should have an OLN, SSN or some other identifyer to distinguish between you and your daddy.

Not trying to be an ass but go take care of it, if you don't like sumter county go to your local agency, odds are they won't extradite you if you can post bond within a few days.

That's my lil speech

Not sure where you are in school, but if just one lawyer went to that school, you've got a decent shot. Be sure to mention the school and what you are studying, how long you have invested, how much of this semester and it's money wasted, and anything else that would look good to the lawyer.

Let me give you some honest advice here as I have spent 60 days in jail in 2004 for having too much fun on my motorcycle.

First, is it just a mistiminor? If so, you're fine. No worries about anything hurting the rest of your life.

It's 59 days in jail, that means you'll be out in 45 on good behavior.

I did the whole lawyer thing, blah blah.. ended up costing me ALOTTTT of money. What happened in the end? Went to jail for longer if i just went. Since I fought, got lawyer, spent months going in and out of court, I got the maximum sentance and a heafty fine.

This is my advice to you. If they have zero record of you going, and you did not keep any of your paperwork, you're out of luck. Get all your affairs in order and turn yourself in on a Monday morning 6am. Bring around $100 cash for commasary. You should get lucky, and you'll see a judge by wednesday, probably sooner, and you'll then get to explain the details their clerks seem to be missing. Be very professional, no whiney emotions. List off names of the people you've delt with when doing the work detail, provide anything you can and bring all the paperwork you have. Since you are telling the truth, there will be details of you're work stay, and by mid-end week you'll be a free man. You have nothing to worry about if everything you did was on the books, and you signed papers and clocked in, and everything the days you worked. They will be found.

Jail is not like TV jail. It's a house. Don't walk into someones house with disrespect, and you won't get treated with it.

If worse comes to worse, and they have ZERO record of you doing what the court ordered, you just wasted every penny you spent on a lawyer. All he might be able to do is lower your sentance to maybe 30 days. Big deal. After the first week it goes by in a blur.

starfox3465@live.com is Laura's. I don't see how a partout is avoidable, though. I need to raise at least $1500.

Maybe if I get some of the big chunks sold off, I can keep the engine and car, but at this point, I'm seriously doubting it.
