ok, so during the week I decide to wire up some fog lights to my car. They have 2 lights on each side, one white and one yellow. I decided to wire a switch to each, so I can turn on the yellow and white independantly. I thought I was doing it right. I wired one power line through the firewall and into a fuse box I added with a 20amp fuse. Then split the power to each switch. After the switch I ran the wire back to the front of the car to the lights. I bought light up switches so I wont leave the lights on when i get out of the car. Now the thing is that I stupidly decided to ground the switch to the screw that hold the This is where i think the problem might have occured but i dont know. I did it here:

Here are the symptoms:
1. the car would not start - the battery seemed completely drained but I tried jump starting and I even put a batery charger on it for a while. (at first i was able to get the starter to turn like one revolution but not anymore)
2. when I turn the key, dash light flicker like crazy. radio does also
3. clicking coming from around the passenger floor, i know the starter relay is there
4. the head relay in the fuse box under the hood buzzes after trying to start it. I replaced it with one from my old car but it buzzed too.
5. I heard a buzz type of noise come from where I grounded the wire after the first attempt to start.

~and i checked all the fuses in the engine fuse box and the one under the drivers side kick panel.

Sorry for the long post, Im just trying to be thorough. And advice, tip, solutions would be greatly appreciated. Anything i should go check?

Heres a picture of the lights if it it helps to know what Im talking about.

yeah you need to learn how to use a multimeter. thats not a ground...at all.

did you disconnect those fogs after all this and try to start the car?

hey man, we all make mistakes. I know how to use a multimeter but was rushing a little to finish that last few things cause I had to drive to philly to work the next morning. I just notice that if i touched the ground wire to that spot the switch lit up when it was on so i figured it was grounding.

hey guys my car seems to have a short also when i drive it if i drive slowly say...35 then its ok but as soon as i give it some gas poooot it craps on me... you can give it gas and i will not do anything you can push and release the clutch and it still wont fire. the only way to get it to fire is to bump the starter switch, and it will take off again for a min. until it does it again. i also get the clicking noise from the door, but its my drivers door. i guess cuz my wiring is from japan that would be the passenger door. any ideas what it could be???? i need some help!

socc: you need to now take that multi meter of your through a ton of wires. i bet dollar to doughnuts that ya fried a circut somewhere. try unhooking them and see if the condition changes.

eviltwins: check your alternator. double check wire conditions. there may be a bad wire of a bad ground. from my reaserch, it sounds like you alt. might just be on its way out.

make sure the connections to the battery terminals are tight. if one is loose it can "pop" off, but itll still be in contact with the battery post! so youll think its still on there good when its not.

hey socc i dont know that this applys to you but it may. dont forget the supra has 2 breakers in the car that trip like house breakers. there in the driver kick panel. they look like replays with chrome covers and are OVAL shapped with a pin hole on the face. u pull the breaker out of the car and put a pin in it, if it CLICKS then it was tripped and u just reset it. theres 2 of them, theres one in the middle or by the actuall fuses and theres one above with the relays themselves. they usually only trip when something faulty with wiring happens or if u grounded soemthign out by accident and made a big spark in power. USUALLY u loose all power though, although there was 2 cases i had where that wasnt the case and i had some power and the triped circuit fixed it. julio wanted me to share with u haha
