How to shim the CT26 Wastegate?

3" exaust and a shimmed wastegate gets me 11 pounds! then again i also have the apezi intake and egr block off plates and blah blah blah blah......... stock ic.......blah ramble .............dirka.............hard upper ic ..........where am i again??????????????

i have 5 crammed in mine, no need for a longer bolt, gets me a solid 10 pounds of boost, with the head work i have it creeps to 15 at higher rpms in 5th.

Sorry for hijacking teh thread, but I thought this was the best place to ask this. Wouldn't shimming the wastegate for more boost reduce the over-all life of the turbo?

Yes.
More boost=less life.

no question the more boost on anything shortens it's life.....but shimming not the only way....buying a 400 dollar EBC will raise boost and will do the same thing[i.e. shorten turbo lifespan]

or,save the wastegate,remove all shims,and get a MBC from drjonez and get 12psi for less than $30.00

i never shimmed my waste gate..

i started out, gign with a full 3inch turbo back exhaust, and 2.5 inch hard pipes, solved boost leak problems, and cleaned up the n/a bay..

any how, with my mbc disconnected. im running 10psi on my aftermarket boost gauge. ~with no shims~

I AM over my shim phase. :nono:. It is a GREAT and WONDERFUL way to boost it up a few pounds...mind you that the bigger shims you go, the more stress you put on the wastegate...I had 2 wastegates poop on me from having 7mm shimmed, and then 5mm shimmed. It's great if you just want some additional boost, but if you are building your car to go fast and such, don't add more! Otherwise...Bye bye wastegate. Just get an MBC, Like me. ...Cuz I'm cool like that. :nono:
