I have a 1.5jz bolted to an r154 5-speed in my mk3 and I was wondering how much gear oil the R154 transmission is supposed to be ran in it. I have heard 2qts and I have also heard 3qts. Which would be the best for this? Thanks

The brands are the ones I intend to go with but the quantities are listed.

I like the 10 dollar pumps so you dont have to pull interior parts to put fluid in. I think its a pan in the arse to pull that crap just to refill.

Its like 10+screws and 8 bolts vs 1 bolt and a pump. Eh maybe its just me cause im lazy.

Flat surface should take 3.2qts to fill it.

Shifter bushings dont need to be replaced every 30k. Also then you have to spend money on the top seal as it will leak after taking the shifter out so many times.(i dont like silicone things that never came that way from the factory.)

Ya that makes it easier. Im just saying, i have done it both ways + im lazy, so the easiest way is with the pump hands down. Do what you like tho.

Plus the more you mess with interior parts the more problems you have with them especially when there 20 years old.

Yea, I shouldof said, if you haven't changed it yet, then you should take this time to do so.

But you've got a point, it's not something that needs frequent replacing, and the more you keep taking it apart, the harder it gets to put back together. Who am I to say though, I use the pump as well lol!

I got 3 qts on the way of the mt90..... bought it online because I couldnt find it locally. I should have bought 4 quarts, but I didnt. There is new fluid currently in the tranny (very clear / clean).

My question:

Can I mix in the mt 90 with what is currently in there? I dont know whats in there but im only looking to use .2 qts of it and the rest will be mt90. Anyone see any potential problem with this? I think it would be fine but I'm not sure.
