i have officially removed it with a JDM ecu. Throttle response is far better and it is not rich all the time as much.
I am comparing throttle response to when i had the EGR with the USDM ecu and now none with a JDM one.
Soo USDM Ecu is for sale :)

uhh. he did say throttle response. I believe everyone would be able to tell some difference in a car you drive almost every day, no. And if nothing else was touched with tuning, etc. then I would say that is an improvement. Lets just see for how long.

No. ;)

Placebo effect is such a strong thing. That is the reason why they use it for medical trials. The brain is such a "powerful" tool that sometimes, the thought of being ok, is enough to make them ok. ;)

I am basing this on what i 'felt'. I didn't even know that that is what TRD said it did. The throttle does respond a lot quicker, and i am not lying. It could be a bunch of different things that just so happened to be coincidence, but it has improved! Could be just pure coincidence, who knows. Maybe my old ecu had something wrong with it.
I don't understand what the "lets just see for how long" comment is about.

everyone in japan doesnt have a egr.

[/ end thread].

Nor required to meet US NOx levels in Japan. :nono:

Many new cars in the US don't have it either. Variable cam timing to save the day.

btw

one funny thing about japan.

they might not have had it in the 7m bu7t when the 1jz came to the picture in 1989. Guess what was included on that motor ;)

EGR!

As I said before. Toyota is not as silly as most people think ;)

jdub- dont mean to fan the flames here at all but can you say what the fuel econ would be for savings?

this is a great thread btw. i currently do not have an egr (ffim) but have the provisions for it and may toss it back on to see the difference. this may be the first year that I actually need to get my supra emissions tested and will probably need to install a cat.

1998 US supras had vvti (n/a) and non us market cars had vvti through 2002 with the 2jz-gtel, although I am unsure of the first year of vvti on the turbo 2j.

I meant mark 3. the mark 4's never had 1jz's.
