I have a single turbo 1JZ (GT35) and the car runs fine daily no problems, but if I do some hard pulls, lets say 3 or 4 the car starts to get hotter almost to overheating. So I usually dont push it that hard. I have a relatively new all metal radiator, that does not leak at all. I have a new thermostat as well and water pump. My motor is newly rebuilt. I run all water with water wetter cause that cools the best. I thank the weather for giving me colder temps. in Florida but I am going to order a Koyo or PWR radiator to compensate. My turbo is only oil cooled and is not ball bearing, it gets really hot under the hood. I'm dying for a PWR radiator because it's the biggest.

How many of you actually run a single turbo 1JZ with the stock radiator? Is there something wrong with my car? Cause I cant figure it out.

and this coming from someone who posted this in my thread!!!:bigun2:

Re: jdm 440's, 1jz map sensor and no afpr ok????

Why are people trying to run a car without a proper tune? If it's a money issue, then dont drive at all. Our cars were tuned a specific way from Toyota and it was done for a reason, if your going to modify. Maintain the proper tune, so you can make optimum horsepower, efficiency, and reliability.

Funny guy. I have a proper tune with all my AFR's nominal across the board, wanna a excel graph to see? I could email you one? I run with a stock radiator cause it's only been two weeks running on the motor. You can expect me to do every modification to my car without working out the kinks on the car. Having a Supra you should know these things don't iron themselves out, you have to work at Supra's and that exactly what I'm trying to do. Thank you for contributing to the problem.

One thing I did forget to leave out which is a big deal. I am running e-fans from flexlite. They blow hard, but we all know no e-fan can do it as well as the stock fan either. Can I pull a clutch type fan when using the 2JZ water pump? for ,ore air flow? also can i do this when i upgrade my radiator?

On dyno with two fans at 90+ deg. out. The temps went up a little but never excessive. I think it's my fans not pulling enough, thats what my buddy is saying.

i ran my car with a stock radiator for almost a year with the gauge barely close to the half way mark on hard pulls. on the dyno same result. the stock rad is fine i believe untill u start making loads of horsepower and beat on the car regularly.

oh and i was using the nissan altima elec fans. good cheap mod in my opinion as i got em for $45 from the junkyard and they worked great. maybe something else it wrong with the car. pressurize your coolant system maybe there's a pinhole somewhere and it's loosing pressure. that can cause the temp gauge to rise.

You have a heat shield or turbo blanket covering that turbo? that would keep a bit of heat away from everything else. When I go single, I'm planning on running a blanket.

Do you have your undercover on? Is your stocker radiator in good condition?

If your turbo is solely oil cooled, are you running a nice oil cooler?

stock radiator and it never ever overheats
pt67 on a 1.5jz
e-fans: two pushers one pull type
early opening thermostat
1.3bar radiator cap
ordinary coolant

I'd say upgrade your fan.

Does a PWR radiator fit on a 2jzgte mk3 90' ?
(Aristo motor with 1jz motor mounts)

I think it will be to close to the fan...
With my stock radiator I have about 1.3" (3.2cm) clearence...
How thick is a PWR?
Can someone with 2jz and PWR give us some light on that issue :1zhelp:

My 1JZ with GT40-88, stock radiator, did a few dyno pulls, made 400whp@15psi, coolant temperature didn't budge a single degree the entire run. Jumped up maybe 5 degrees at the beginning of the run, stayed rock stable.

This was with the hydrofan.
