Nick M, Toyota recomends such short warm up time because of ecology regulations, on new cars manufacturers even recomend not to idle your car at all, but it doesnt mean that it's good for out engines ;)
Wrong. Extensive idling dilutes the oil. But don't start the car and drive. Give it that 10 seconds to lubricate. Driving normal is normal, not the way kids drive.

Get in car.
Start car.
Wait for oil pressure to rise.
Set turbo timer for 5 minutes.
Get out...go back inside and finish doing my thing.

Come back out.
Get in.
Start car.
Wait for temp to go above "C" (20-30 seconds).
Look at oil pressure.
Pull out of garage.
Drive away!

I would like to add that I am guilty of checking out my car when I see it in the driveway, or when I come out of a store. There's nothing better than seeing your car in a crowded parking lot and realizing that there's no other car in that lot that I want more :)

 That is SO funny! :D I'm guilty of it too...I feel stupid sometimes because when I'm walking inside to go to work...I walk across the parking lot, and "juuuust" before I go around the corner I turn around and look at it and think, "damn, what a beauty "

I let her idle from anywhere between 15 seconds and a minute. I always take it easy and no boost till I see the temp is where it should be. I also think about the diff and tranny. I know its good when it starts to shift smooth (well...smooth for a R-154). When its cold it really doesnt like the 1-2 shift.

Once rpm's level off aroun 800ish then i drive to warm the trans up before getting on it

I'm the same, i sometimes wait between 1-3minutes, but normally around 1 minute... but when i take off i just drive slowly first minute... dont shift into second quickly either.. take it easy with the clutch... and then by the time i'm about to go into 3rd, shes picking up temp and all good to drive.

Ok, now we know how long you let it idle, but I have another question.

How long do you LOOK at your car before you drive it?

I find I'm staring at it for no apparent reason for a good 30 seconds before and after I drive it LOL

LOL yeah.. what is up with that?... hehe.. each time I look, i always see a new angle, sommething new that I like and appreciate. The very reason we own our MKIII's ain't got nothin' but love for it.

I tend to stare at my car quite a bit, but I try not to do it too much, because i'll get angry/depressed when I see all of it's flaws...and some things I wish were different...I guess I'm like every MKIII owner...lol.

I am so glad there aren't a million of these cars on the road...IMO it wouldn't feel as great to own one. :)

I don't see how idling your car for 5 minutes is babying it. This is socal, it's not that cold. turn car on, start driving, wait til car reaches normal operating temp, then do whatever you want.

I just start it up and wait for my CD to start playing... it's some cheap POS that takes about 15-20 secs to load the mp3 files i guess. Then i drive off and wait for it to warm up.

I seen it written, and maybe it was IJ that posted it, Sure the engine may be warm when you let it sit and idle, but the trans/diff wont be.

If I'm running late to school it's straight out the garage and boosting once I hit the highway (the gauge will normally already be on the rise by then)
*edit*
But I always let the oil pressure build up, no matter the circumstances.

Yep exact same but no cd just straight through my mp3 player

ideling for short period of time lets your oil to flow where it should. And when u just start and go, some parts of your engine still are not fully lubricated ;)
