Just wanted to post some pics of some recent work I did. This stuff is traveling to the other side of the world in a few days to be with its new owner who will be trying for 1500-1800 hp on a 7m.

Rich: Very nice :D

Would have thought Steel would have been a better choice for the Girdle?

I would have done steel, but wanted to save on the weight, so 6061 aluminum, heat treated after milling, 1 inch thick should hold plenty. Hard to tell in the pics, but the meat areas are very wide also, Should be as strong as any hot or cold roll. This girdle was done all by hand on a manual mill, no read outs either. It sucked to say the least. 30 hours.

I'd think the same, but he said other side of the world, not US.

just out of curiosity, do the 2J's have anything like this? I've first hand seen over 1400HP out of a 2J, and I'm curious as to what he was running...

main girdle FTW!!!

billet mains is a similar technique on the JZ's. all ive ever heard of for boning up the jz bottom end is the billet main caps. never heard of a girdle for those yet. im not sure they have ever needed them.

greece is the other side of the world right?

Rich: Cool should work well!

My curiosity was for the different rates of expansion between the 2 materials!

Man that would have both blown and sucked to cut by hand (I  my CNC) ;)

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am sure the new owner will post his own pics too. Several people have guessed where it is going. I need to get started on his cylinder head now.
