I couldn't find a thread on this so i hope i'm not being redundant (i have been lately)

This might be a bad idea because of theft risks, so please inform me if you agree that it is. i dont start threads like this much so...i cant say i'm that great at judging the intelligence of doing something like this...but;

Post up pics of your home theater and audio setups! I dont care what kind, from teeny desk unit to a whole f'ing room devoted to movies....i'm curious what everybody has! you can use type if you want but pics are generally more interesting....

but yeah, is this a bad idea? lol

Other sites do this kind of thing all the time, I don't see too much of a problem. I just have an Onkyo HTIB setup... I'll post pics sometime soon.

Sony 5.1 HTIB / Samsung 40" 1080p LCD / HDMI & Components throughout with Samsung BluRay Player in the near future!

I don't have any pictures on hand...Maybe I'll snap one later...
But it really doesn't look like anything special.

I don't have any shots at the moment, nor do I really want to take any (my place is a mess right now), but my setup consists of:

Mitsubishi CS-40505 (40" PICTURE TUBE TV)
Toshiba SD-3109 (twin-disk DVD player w/ HDCD and other cool features)
Toshiba M754 (6-head, 19 micron VCR)
Yamaha R-V1105 (Dolby Digital / DTS Receiver)
JBL S412PII (Studio Series Towers, 4-way, Front channels)
JBL S38II (Studio Series Bookshelfs, 3-way, Rear Channels)
JBL S-CENTERII (Studio Series Center Channel)
JBL S120PII (Studio Series 400W 12" Sub)

A lot of it is pretty old-skool, but it sounds / looks awesome (I've seen/heard very few setups, new or old, that can hold their own). It's a complete pain in the ass to move everything around though...

sounds like some pretty nice setups.

i have a rather oddball setup going. no brands match and as far as i know the sub i have is not a well known one...

I was wondering...you know those generally older HUGE 3-way's that have 15inch or larger woofers, generally in stereo setups since dolby wasn't mainstream at the time? does anybody pair something like that with a sub or do the pair pretty much hit hard enough not to use any other bass reinforcement?

I have..

Teac AG-V8060 Reciever
Sharp 27" flatscreen CRT
Onkyo center and rears (i need better rears...they're low end)
Technics 3-way floor standing (but still kinda short) speakers on top of nightstands for the main front channels
Ultimate Sound 12" 150W sub.

I also have a pair of Bose 401's setup behind my main Technics speakers for the off days i feel like having the smoother more classical sound, but sadly the right channel tweeter has somehow lost it's oomph and doesnt project or make crips highs any more. I need to replace it. thats part of the reason i dont use them much. :( and i still dont believe i've been able to correctly place them. i hear its all about placement with those direct/reflecting speakers so...i dunno. they do sound nice though, especially for their small drivers...

my room is also a mess so after i clean it and level out my entertainment center i'll take a pic or two. (carpet is letting the weight of the thing tilt it forward...lol)

I spend all my money on hookers, beer, and supra parts... not necessarily in that order of priority.

Come to think of it, I threw my last TV in a dumpster when I moved last because I was too lazy to move the excess weight. And it was a piece of shit.

yamaha v361 reciever
yamaha 6 speaker package
27" Samsung CRT Flatscreen
PS2 for a dvd player. (or the XBOX, but the PS2 is quieter.)

The speakers are cheap, but very clean. They dont have much punch, but the sub takes care of the LFE's quite well. I would get a couple klipsch towers and center but my money is all being pooled into my supra fund for now ;)

Ah, it's not a widescreen. I was going to ask how awful you thought it was but yours prob doesn't have the problems like my TX-S3082WHX has...

damn those infinities are awesome!! how much power does that amp put out?

i've always thought about separate external stand-alone amps but wasnt quite sure the benefits...

what signal is going to the amp? does that setup have better sound quality or the the solo amp thing for volume.

Ya, I'm really, really not a fan of the widescreen tubes. They always seem to have a distorted picture. the sides get funky. Mine has a slight distortion, but its only barely noticeable when you have scrolling text.

I have done a tremendous amount of tweaking in the service menu (and gone through 3 different sets) to mine to get it reasonable. Still it is WAY too bright on the sides, and eliminating all of the fish bowl bend is pretty much impossible without ruining the picture somewhere else. Oh, and the corners have a purple hue sometimes.

Panasonic AE900u 720p projector hooked to a HTPC via HDMI to DVI cable
96" Carada Criterion 16x9 screen
Axiom VP150 center channel
Axiom M22Ti fronts
Old Sony bookshelves for surrounds
Old Pioneer VSX-D509s DTS receiver, still does it's job
no sub :(

The projector broke recently so I sold the screen. I decided not to fix it and will probably end up with a 37-42" 1080p HDTV, but I'd rather spend the $ on the supra right now. :)
