you obviously dont have a clue what youre talking about.

the luxury yachting industry alone is a great example of turbo diesels being put to great use, while not only looking good, but sounding good as well.

just cause in your country you see a bunch of busted ass pieces of shit dosnt give you any qualifications to make the statement you did.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not too sure what you mean by "busted ass pieces of shit", damn near every single brand new car in Britain is sold with the option of a diesel and almost every time people "real drivers" take the petrol version, hell most people still cop the petrol version because of the smell and noise that is associated with diesels.

Diesels have got better over the last 10 or so years, but they aren't the amazing miracle motors that you yanks seem to think they are, they really aren't. Like I said, you have a few nice motors there, that's great, but when you begin to get the sudden influx of 1.9tdi pieces of shite that is the true reailty of diesels, well, I'll let you decide....

P.S, No need to take my comment so personally... ;)

Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races...

sorta like a joke with me and my friend

"Hey, nice honda"

"yep it has 800 HP, mind helping me push it to that hill so I can get it moving"

(Honda's have very low torque compared to HP imo)

Wrong...HP is how fast your car can go and torque is how quickly you get there AND imho you know jack shit about honda's.

Audi diesel Le Mans racer or smt. was very successful. IIRC first place somewhere if not Le Man. Am I right?
I'm fairly certain it went undefeated for quite some time, including LeMans 24 (maybe more then once... IDk, I was in Indy during this years 24).

I find it interesting to that you see things that way, as most Americans only know of the diesels that are in the big trucks(pickup as well as semi). So the general consensus is that diesels are nothing but loud, stinky, and polluting monsters. I really don't think you understand what a noisy diesels is until your have been next to a Ford or Chevy at a stop light, the injector noise on those things is insain. Usually it's the Europeans that are trying to convince us that diesels can be small, quiet and non gross-polluters. So it's weird to heard that coming from somebody across the pond.

I bet a most of the 1300+ ft/lb claims with 400hp are people saying "it's probably making xxxx torque" Kinda like fish stories, a lot of truckers do like fishin'. :biglaugh:

the only difference between a fairy tale and a trucker story is...

fairy tale starts out "once upon a time"

trucker story starts out "this aint no bullshit..."

but iirc the cummins isx 600 pre egr motor is factory rated at 625/1800ft/lb...most fleets cut them down to 400 ish

actualy that is from the dyno sheet when it was on the rollers last year for the state emition test

and a trucker story starts out " you aint going to belive this shit" lol

and theas motors are low RPM monsters i red line at 2000 rpm so that is where you get the big dif in power #s we cant turn fast enugh to build big HP that and stock i'm pushing 25#s of boost at 1500 rpm
