HKS Sport Turbo?

After looking through this guys website:

i've decided that if i can get the HKS sport turbo, it should be a pretty worth while investment as far as a turbo goes... it bolts up to the manifold, if i had to make my own lines it wouldnt be that hard, but it looks fairly stock, so no smog hassles! this turbo should support 400ish HP right? the guy was only on 16psi, i would think 22-25psi is do able with this turbo.

but do any of you currently have it? and do you have the dimensions of it? inducer and exducer and all of that stuff... just kind of wondering... im trying to find a compressor map so i can compare it against a turbo thats equivalent...

It's not made anymore...

The GReddy TD06 is still made though, and they are about the same as well. I think they also have a CARB cert, but I could be wrong...

there was one on ebay... and i see them floating around every now and then.

i just found a turbonetics cast hotside that bolts up to the stock manifold... anybody ever use that? (if you couldnt tell i wanna use the OEM manifold)

and does a Greddy TD06 bolt up? or does it have to be mk3 supra specific?

i didnt realize it went for almost a grand! crazy stuff... might just get a 57trim or a 60 trim if there gonna set me back that much!

The Greddy kit has a manfold adapter and an elbow that mounts to the stock DP.

The turbonetics rear housing is shit from what I've heard...

That's true. I have a ITS 60-1 Stage 3 that is a direct bolt-on. It only has around 3000 miles on it. Great turbo. Quick spool. Good for around 450whp. I'll be selling it with an unused hardline kit just as soon as my Turbonetics 62-1 turbo gets here.:naughty:

Keep your eyes out for it. Should sell pretty quick.

Well the greddy TD-06 I had did not bolt right up. It used a adapter that went from turbo to manifold about 2" thick. But that TD-06 was Fun!!!!! side ways in 3rd gear any one.

Edit: My turbo was TD-06-SH20 So what ever the 20 is ???? Trim size???

could you find that? i just read through 30 threads, and one very long thread about the BOSS series of turbos and there wastegate issues... lol

As far as I know, the wastegate issues are long since fixed, so you should have nothing to worry about unless you buy used and the original owner hasn't had it fixed.

I run the Turbonetics bolt on (mostly) unit. It needs new oil lines, and you have to cap off all your old water lines. The lower IC pipe was a bit of a bitch, too, as the compressor outlet isn't quite in the same spot as a CT26, but with some elbow grease and cursing it went on. Eventually.

Turbonetics, Boss, and SP all make a bolt on unit now. Plus there are the CT upgrades... shouldn't be hard to find one that fits your needs.

PS: Truth be told, if I were to do it again, (and I will...) I wouldn't go for a bolt on turbo the second time around. Once you start aiming for the 400+ power levels, I'd rather have the extra flexibility of an external wastegate, and the cost difference isn't enough to worry about considering what I already have into the car.

my big concern about the T4 and T3 turbos is that i need a new manifold... and then when it comes time for smog its not like you can really hide a tubular manifold and external waste gate just sitting on that side...

i'll go investigate the SP some as i havent heard much about that one... everybody said turbonetics had horrible customer service and they suck balls... so we'll see. and i may be content with just under 400HP... its all up in the air right now, nothing is certain.

The boss series turbo's has had zero problems with wastegates. The old SS turbo from 4-5 years ago was the fix to the hks style turbo I believe. BUT!!!!! what is the thread that states the BOSS series has issues...we have heard of none so it would be nice to read on "our" issues

Not only that, they were leaders in the movement. Pistons, automatic transmission upgrades, cams, turbo upgrades, full turbo kits, overpriced tuning, exhaust....

i just looked at the sp bolt on turbos... and if there numbers are true, then im defintaley thinkin about those turbos, 490hp at 18psi? thats nuts! it would be the last turbo i buy, but, does it bolt onto the oem downpipe? because i cant find any pictures of the exhaust turbine...
