My sister and I are pooling our cash to get my father some mods for Christmass. Here is what I need help with. Can someone give me a list of mods that you would do to a 100% stock 89 7mgte automatic. He is only looking to get in the 12's on the 1/4 mile. I know we cant afford everything he will need but at least I will have a list and can get him started.

My basic idea is

1. SAFC - II
2. LEX AFM
3. 550cc
4. Walbro Pump
5. some sort of turbo upgrade (get his upgraded or buy a new one?)
6. ARP Bolts.

thanks for the help. And if anyone has some stuff for sale we may need please let me know.

Definitely a AFPR kit

Also you'll need a good intake, and 3" (elbowless FTW!) turboback exhaust.

Good IC pipes should help quite a bit, and BOV valve to keep that turbo in good shape

And some kind of boost controller to make more boost! You could buy a shim kit from MDC

The motor will of course have to be in proper condition!

i would definatly go with an afpr as well, for all the electronics you might be better off getting the maft pro if your funds are sufficiant. i dont know if your looking to run stock clutch either but i would definatly upgrade.

only looking to get into the 12's
 he said "only" and "12's" in the same sentance as "MKIII" :yelrotflm

Ok *whew* back to reality. Like everyone else says, get an AFPR to go with that, as with a high-pressure pump, you'll need to drop the fuel pressure a little bit :)

If you're pooling money for an xmas present, I'd say go for the turbo. That's going to run you around 2g's alone.

Walbro pump--ebay, $100-120 (Actually I've got one for sale, brand new in box--$100+shipping--I need this thing gone immediately, as I need some money for basic repairs that came up)
Fuel Pump, Sard--Ebay $100
ARP's--$100
SAFCII--around $150-$200 used on the boards
Lexus AFM--anywhere from $50-$200 depending on who's selling it.
550cc injectors--probably close to $300, if not more.

100% stock... First off, preventative maintenance. For a 12 sec supra (lol BTW) you're def gonna need to get your dad a MHG and ARP studs. You start giving him mods first and the car will be parked with::bhg::

I would love to see 12's on an auto... People like me with an auto seem stuck with just bolt ons (At least I think that's the safest thing to do).

Yeah, I would think that if you have enough power to get into the 12's your auto would take a shit on you at the track. That is, unless you have the auto built to handle the power like some members on here have ;).

Oh I did not mention, His auto trans is about to go anyway so he is looking into a new trans. Any sugestions on a replacement? He was wondering if there is a replacement auto trans that would be good for the track.

Everyone has given you good ideas about what your dad would need to run 12's, pick a few that you can afford as a gift and then give your dad the list everyone made and let him take it from there.

Yes. thank you all! I hope to get most of his parts from users here. I have done well with my mods purchased from users, and I know I can get Idealsupra to install them for us! hehe..

He will have a good time with these presents

whoa whoa what is going on here?

first off why is everyone laughing at 12s? 12s can be had with bolts on including a 60-1 ct if the car is driven right.

second of all the auto COULD hold that power but who knows for how long...if its going out just do a 5spd swap or if you must ...build the auto...but that will be around 500-600ish ... PM rakkasan for that (hes in plant city and built his auto to handle power before selling it)...

and what the hell is this having to build the r154? that tranny can take upwards of 800hp... sans maybe the thrust washers which isnt a big problem...

anyways.... john you know the PM ;) ill be glad to take in your dads car for a weekend and do it up

:biglaugh: You know I will be calling you to do the install. and I am gonna need you after my wb gets installed. A little tune needs to be done. Maby we can go to the drag strip here in st. pete and see what it can do at the track with the boost to 1.5bar. ??? :naughty: As far as my fathers car. He is gonna be slow to get the stuff he hates spending money. So thats why I called my sister to go in on some stuff to give him a taste.

Something is wrong with his trans. He needs to get that fixed. We are gonna check for codes next weekend. He is keeping the auto. And I have to say if it was not a pain I have been thinking about going auto. The best way to drag race is auto. I would most likely suck at drag raceing with my 5 speed. . I am getting older and lazy.. not shifting every day sometimes sounds good. Thanks for all the help tho. and dont forget about the bumper, I cant wait to paint black metal flake! it will be nice!
