Help me remove steering column

I'm adding TEMS to my car and so I need to exchange the steering column for one with the steering sensor.

How do I get it out?

I have gotten to the point where I have unbolted the cover plate from the column hole cover and unbolted the intermediate shaft from the main shaft but the steering column won't come out.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to unbolt the column hole cover too? And if so will it come out into the car or into the engine compartment?

I assume I have to remove the steering column by pulling it into the car and not out into the engine compartment (hopefully...)

Any help appreciated. Urgent!!

I got it. It was the combination of part of the intermediate shaft hitting the firewall and the intermediate shaft being stuck on the main shaft. Just needed a hammer.
