Help Me Plan a GOOD GTE Rebuild on a Budget!

AS for that kit, the only problem *on a budget* I see is that oil pump. Unless its new Aisin/Toyota OEM, I wouldn't touch it.

im just a big fan of toyota/aisin stuff.

90% of everything that gets replaced on my car (other than performance upgrade) is toyota/aisin. there are a few exceptions, such as the exh manifold gasket, spark plugs, etc.

i sent a message to the person selling that li'l engine kit and was told that the oil pump is a Taiwanese-made product by some company called AZ. I asked if she could double check on that though.

No go on an unknown oil pump. I think I'm starting to get a good idea of where I'm going to go with this project...

OK. i got a confirmation e-mail.

Anyhow, AISIN is the brand of the oil pump. By the way, when you get the oil pump, the Toyota logo is scratched off. These are parts made by Aisin for Toyota and sometimes, Aisin made more than Toyota ordered. Hence, Aisin will sell them to aftermarket merchants like my boss. But Aisin has to scratch off the Toyota logo due to copyright laws since only Toyota dealerships have the right to sell Toyota marked parts.
