What? Read what you type before you submit your reply.

7m wins hands down, the only thing better than a 7m is a 1jz.

Dear god...
I have an Idea...every time one of these threads pop up...I think a mod(ian) should lock it.

This is bullshit and is a waste of bandwidth.

Lock this POS thread it gets us no where but fighting at each other.

I agree fully!! It's all just personal preference. I have one of the rare MK3's in DFW that still has a 7M everyone else has a 2J or a 1J swap, (Poodles still has the 7M aswell but is just an internet junky) You just have to figure out what your goals are, if it is 500rwhp, just get your bottom end rebuilt and get the sufficient mods to go with it, just cheaper and less of a head ache than a swap.

Btw his trap in the 1/8th is around 113 and a beast from a dig and highway pulls. You might want to stop running your mouth about now

For my '91....I'll most likely stick with the 7M when I build a stouter motor....I don't plan on going nuts with it, so the 7M I feel will handle the power reliably.

I wouldn't mind, however, snagging an '89 or '90 shell and tossing a nice little 2J in it...nothing obscene power-wise, since it's a waste (I mean, c'mon...who can honestly say they use all 1200HP at the track...or on the street even??? LOL!)...then I'd have one of each! :bigthumb:

 Yep, I'm an internet junkie right now cause I'm broke, jobless, and it's too damn hot out and I don't have everything I need to fix my A/C and can't afford the rest.

BRING ON THE SNOW!!!

Also, I swear to god, the next person that sits there and throws claims that a 7M can't be powerful and reliable needs to be banned and have a personal assbeating from Nate and Duane. It's idiotic trolling.

Is there any real debate about (at least from a technical point of view) which motor is better?

But to say that a 7m if "F'n sh*t", is just trolling for a fight as well as ignorant, and certain to upset a lot of loyal 7m owners.
I don't think the 2jz vs 7mgte is unworthy of a debate, as long as we keep it civil and try to keep reality within sight. I agree though, these threads do seem to degenerate into mud slinging.

If I had a shell with no engine and none of the 7M specific extra parts (intercooler pipes, ect) then I would go 2J.

If you have a rebuildable 7MGTE in a 7MGTE car, you could have a fully built 7M for the price of the 2J swap.

Like I said, it depends a LOT on what you have to start with and if you're willing to swallow the difference in price.

Put your 2j in and come see me !!!! I'm not knocking either motor I have made plenty of power on both... come see me, and we will take a trip to the track along with every other ignorant @#$t and we will see how it turns out... To say
the 7m F'n suck is plane ignorance... Last time I checked all of the fastest cars
on this board are 7m powered.... I don't like threads like this....

Jason

I don't have a 2j, but I'll bring my 1j out and we can dance! lol

I just don't like the 7m, but thats why I put in a jz engine. No disrespect meant to 7m ppl, just my choice. I agree this topic is beaten to death. 2j hates 1j who hates 7m who hates 5m and we all hate hondas lol

Ahh, the classic tuff-guy street-ricer err...racer... "Pfft, I don't race that 1/4 mile sheit. I RUN these streets, bro. I run fo' big dollaz too, son. Wachu know 'bout that??"

I guarantee the reason you dont run at the track is that youre afraid of what the timers will really show....

Ladies and Gentlemen...We're staring right into the face of IGNORANCE.

charlesshen - Get off your, "I'm a tough guy on the intraweb" $#!%.
I don't think you have ANY idea what tun_x has going on in his car, nor would you want to know.

As much as I'd like to go off on this quote, I'll keep to myself.
_

2JZ = Newer & Better Engineering. Potentially more expensive to swap.
7M = Built correctly without the "16 year old kid" mod, and will generally make more power than 95% of you people would ever dream of making.

It's all about what you're wanting to get out of the car.
It is a clear fact that a JZ is better engineered than a 7M, simply because M series motors have been around since, what, the 60's?

.....But that doesn't mean a 7M will not make big power.
Don't be a tool boxed, cheap ass, ignorant owner, and you'll be amazed what a 7M can do.

And just for the record:

By word of the grapevine, some think building a 1000+hp 2JZ would be a lot more expensive than building a 1000+hp 7M.

Wrong. Once all is said and done, you'll be surprised to see the final receipts.
With a 2JZ, making that power will simply be a little bit easier and more forgiving. That's all. :)

Late model 7M has all the bottom-end benefits of the JZ, while still keeping the torque of the longer stroke 7M.

For a street motor, in my opinion, that is the way to go.

That said, if I were to do it all over again - LSx series motor would be in my Supra.

Cold Blooded :biglaugh:.

Most of the opinions floating around here are damn near worthless. All you seem to get from these threads is Fanboy flaming by those who either had a poorly treated 7M blow up in their face prompting them to go xJZ or those who have built their 7Ms properly and see no reason to go with the JZ.

What I will say is that you very rarely see people go from a JZ to 7M...

The 7m i have is not running so i still have to check the block to and the rest of it. Another swap that I keep hearing about is the 1UZ swap. I think it can be a twin turbo setup but in the MK3 I dont know.

Ahh...One hell of a motor. It's certainly different...obviously, being a V8.

If you can get used to the sound/feel of a "muscle car", have at it. :)

Now, talking acouple GT35R's strapped up to it, and we're in a whole nother ballpark now. ;)

Ignorance is indeed curable...willful ignorance and stupidity on the other hand....
