Thanks for the response Hvyman, but what I'm looking for are pictures. I'm in the process of making my own all stainless heater core, and was hoping to get some pics so I don't have to disassemble my car before I have the heater core finished. It's going to be a little different, but it wont be leaking anytime soon.

What I'd like to do is instead of using stainless tubes to run the same path as the two long tubes that go from the core through the firewall is use two teflon lined smooth bore nitrogen gas hoses to the firewall where I would have mounted a passthru plate. They would attach to the plates via NPT fittings, on the engine bay side of the plates I would have a welded stainless nipple that the 5/8"s hoses attach to.

The core can't be "exposed" like what you're suggesting. It slides in from the side of the heater box and is either all the way out, or all the way in. I'm going to be pulling my heater core tonight and I can take pics of it if you want. I'm not sure I understand why you're wasting time building one out of stainless....a funny focus for "performance" IMO, but to each his own.

Spencyg, the pictures would be really helpful as far as down time goes when I go to install it. It's not a performance mod, its on my 89 7mge, and the reason is, one I can, two this is the third heater core, the first two cost over 700.00 installed. Since I've owned the car around 10 years, anything I do to it I prefer doing a one time job if at all possible. I also have another Supra 87 7mgte, so naturally it will get one also.

Whoever charged you $700 to swap out a heater core took you for a ride...twice. A stock brass core works fine and can be installed from start to finish in like 3 hours.

I'll take some pics tonight.
