a $1500 car w/ a $1000 engine.

talk about gettin the hose

Wow, you're on crack, LOL

Whatever, an opinion is an opinion and you have a right to yours, even if it's a bit off.

It's cool that you think that car is worth only $1,500 even with a 5M. And it's also cool that you think the labor of putting the 7MGTE/auto in that car was $0 as well.

Oh, so you've installed a 7MGTE/auto into a mk2 before have you?

nope. i have, however, gte/v160 swapped an sc300.

labor is free, when you do your own work..

that's not an $8700 car.period.

I think it would be worth the price for someone who is not willing to do his own work. That being said I could see plenty of people paying the money for it.

For people who are willing to do the work themselves, the price my not seem justified. That, and the way I look at it is, I've seen clean 2JZ swapped MKIII's for that price that were not auto.

why wouldnt the car be worth that much? a clean bone stock mk2 goes for ~$5k now days, and super low milage cars for $10-15k, as i recall one sold for like $17k on ebay not long ago and ophir bought 83 for like $13-14k bone stock before he even swapped it to 7mgte etc.... they arnt as common as clean mk3's. also, an auto 7mgte swap is WAYYY harder then a 5 speed 7mgte swap. ive got over $25,000.00 invested in my 84 7mgte mk2 so far and its nowhere near done. i did all the work myself so that money was spent on parts and trial and error stuff and broken parts like trannies and diffs etc... i think $8700 for that car is a steal.

I think it's a gorgeous car. I couldn't buy it, though. I need to do my own work...

I would feel like such a crapface if someone asked me how the swap was, and I said: "Oh, I bought it like that." I'd be more likely to buy it if it was stock. :)

I'd just buy a 2jz for it.... :p

LOL what?
You're talking about cars which came with a dragon emblem stock, vs cars that are superior to the mk2 in every way.

Yea, but they didn't break down after 30k miles or blow HG's.. The topic here was a 7m swapped Mk2 NOT a stock one. And you're what, 19? GTFO

MKIII's don't break down at 30K miles? Most head gasket problems were easily after 100K. Toyota just made the mistake of not using enough torque, that doesn't mean the MKIII wasn't reliable... just fix the mistake and your fine. That and if that was such an issue in terms of reliability why would people like the car above be swapping the 7M if it was an issue.

Anyway, this doesn't need to get personal.

Also, lets not turn this into a MKIV vs MKIII style argument :).

Cryo, and I can think of at least ONE way the MKIII is NOT superior. Weight. The MK2 isn't a piggy like the MKIII and I understand the more hp you put into a 7M, the less that weight seems to matter...however you need less hp in a mk2 to move it faster than that mk3...

not as ghey as neon green

I could care less what you think of my car. If I wanted to fit in I would have went black/red/white like everyone else. Screw that, I wanted a car that nobody in my area had, and I got it. Then they started popping up, so I one upped it and made sure noone would have one like mine. i did it right and probably would do it again. It's awesome having an older car that I've restored and I can pick it out in any aerial photograph of any meet that I've ever been to w/o having to think for a second 'hmm, is that one mine?'

Midnight blue is DEFF not the best color. The best color is black, we all know it. It's a bitch to keep clean but when it's clean, it never looks bad. ever.

And Tanya, they'll never understand the mkII, no use in trying. The mkIII is better, unfortunately.

My mk3 didn't blow it's stock headgasket ever. it was at 186k when i decided to do a rebuild.
Point of the matter is, i can find a Mk3 for that price that is just better for the money.
Yeah and being 19 totally is related to the topic. I can also call you stupid for having memory loss at and older age but i chose not to get personal.
