i guess im lost then...from the look of it you can go to the retro fit place get the fx package and then some fiber glass or similer work....is there more involved that im missing? there seems to be a few on here that have done it already....what am i missing? or are you guys taking it a step farther?

that'y my impression... buy the kit from them and fabricate a housing that'll fit the projectors and also fit inside the headlight housing... I'm not sure how deep the projectors will sit in the housing... also I'm pretty sure the arm that moves the headlights up/down needs to be modified since the projectors aren't nearly as tall as stock lights... and then all the wiring for the HID's and ballast etc... those gotta go somewhere...

*sigh if I had the money I would do it... but that's a project that'll have to wait lmao

It's more involved that you think.

The parts are easy to get. Expensive, but easy to find. The only real exception to this is the damn housings - they are available just about everywhere in the USA, but they've been banned in Canada, so I had to source them off fleabay, and most of the guys who are willing to sell to Canada charge out the ass for shipping.

The wiring is pretty simple too.

Making them fit is tough. You have to pull the headlight assembly, including the entire popup assembly, and pull it all apart. Cut the back off the metal bucket that normally holds the bulb - had to buy an angle grinder for this, the dremel was taking WAY too long. The rest of the assembly is some kind of composite material, and you have to cut away a lot more material to expand the room back there. Projectors are significantly longer and wider than the original bulbs. You'll also have to mod whatever bezels you decide to use, they don't fit nicely inside the 7x6 housings.

After you've made them fit, you need to make them water resistant. Especially if you live on the coast like me, where it rains well over half the year. Stock projectors are *not* water resistant, they are designed to be mounted inside of housings that take care of the waterproofing duties. The Infinity projectors that I am using have gaps where the high / low beam actuator mount, these are large enough that you could pour water in from the back using a garden hose, and the water would pour out just as fast. Personally, I bought a couple bowls that are the right diameter and depth, made from a composite that can take the heat, dremeled them out for the bulb mounts, and I'll attach them using waterproof high heat aluminum tape.

If you want lights that pop up lower than stock, you'll need to mod the arm and the mounting point for the arm. Be a good idea to mod the headlight plastic surround, too, so it looks like it was designed for the reduced height.

Starting to get the picture?

yeah I saw the pics of the NSX mod by survyor2 in the HIDplanet forums...:
http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/sho...ights-in-MKIII-Supra&highlight=NSX+headlights
same kinda deal i think here... lotsa cutting and fitting plus a custom cf mount as well... uber clean look... *droool LOL

wow saw the pricing for lightwerkz *whistle I can envision 3k easy... for a mk3 retrofit esp...

I will admit though... Modding the headlights sounds like one of those projects if you pursue yourself that you will hate it the whole way through, but the final result will be worth it =D sounds like my kinda project haha

Looks good!! what kinda projector and housing did you use? I envision mine would look something like that... have you thought of a custom plastic molding for the housing? and how did you mod the height of the headlights?

btw whats up with ur tires?? why so far in? =O

hahaha the tires are of some honda definatly gonna need some spacers or go with some 17X8.
anyways i used a bixenon hid projector and random projector fog light kit off ebay. i took the original bracket for the headlights and i welded a piece of sheet metal to it that i fabbed to be able to put both lens in it then i sealed it with roof sealer ( i figured that would be weather proof and sturdy enough).

as for making the sleepy-eyes theres two arms that make the headlights flip. 1 is the one connected the the motor and the other goes from that arm to the housing itself. I head to cut both of these the same amount and then i riveted another ball joint to the arm connected to the motor.

only thing i wasnt happy about at first was i had to remove the stoppers and cut of the part of the stopper that connected to the chassi but the motor automaticly stop when the arms reach a certain point so there is no wobble

I love my flip ups. Dont bother me at all.

The only prob i see with a real kit is its money. People say they want but will they actually pay up? But then there also is the peeps that dont post and who knows what they will buy.

I've got pics, but I wasn't planning on posting anything until after I've verified it'll all work. And by work, I mean fit.

at first they did but that was because i was stupid and didnt realize the smallest angle upwards would travel so far with these bright ass lights lol but since they are sittting in the original housing the lights adjust the same way

So are the bi xenons one or two bulbs?

I love the look of two hids on each side, but id hate to replace them all the time due to switching on and off. Perhaps have 4 bulbs on constantly, with a voltage difference between lows and brights?

No wonder they are so expensive.. haha

But does anyone know how much switching on and off for brights and dims affects the lifespan of the hids?
