it's a very hard urethane, feels (and looks) a lot like nylon... I think they're a different color now though...

I HIGHLY recommend them, mine is a bit loose, but I drive very hard, not to mention my shifter being in and out of the tranny many different times...

yeah, mine was loose too, after the toyota green gasket.

once i reassembled my shifter, i took a 12" socket extension and used my rachet as a hammer. i reshaped the top shifter retainer plate since it had gotten warped and deformed over the years of driving. the edges of the center opening had been curled up and outward. so i just tapped them back down to their original shape and opening size. it put more tension on the spring and the seat. my shifter feels tighter than any i have ever tried in a mk3.

funny you mention that... id never seen on in person till this FD came in for work... this thing is pretty sweet. doesnt seem like a $300 setup but its as close to factory quality as ive seen on an aftermarket unit. i wish i could bogart it and put it on my car... lol
