I've searched a few times on here to try and find the best place to buy hardpipes from but I'm still not sure.

Basically after my 3" exhaust from the turbo back and my intake I'm barely making stock boost if I'm lucky (A little over 5psi normally). The engine and turbo are completely stock other than that stuff and my turbo xs bov. I don't really want to go through the hassle of hunting down leaks in the crap stock hoses so I'm just wanting to buy a good set of hardpipes.

my dad owns a muffler shop and I know he could fab me up some pipes but I was thinking that would be super heavy.
If anyone could let me know where the best deal to get hardpipes from I would appreciate it.

Thanks

quadruple check your BOV. Make sure that it is sealing correctly and not acting as a popet relief valve.

I'll be sure and try to add more washers and see if that helps. Thanks.. I'll let you know how it turns out

the driftmotion set is just a universal kit. it doesn't look all that special. you still have to weld them. and there aluminum so it takes a tig in the hands of a good welder to have them turnout decent looking.

i have been putting mine off because my stock ones work fine and i want to upgradet the ic all at once, but all i can say is just wait. our friend is the master welder in town. perfect beads everytime.

I hope your not baseing you psi levels on the stock boost guage, it kinda inaccurate. Get another boost guage besides the stocker only reads to 8 psi.

..another question to..

Are you running the STOCK turbo? If so, do you have a boost controller (either manual or electric)? If you are not running a BC, it will not climb that much!

how about the size?

i was thinking of going 2" to the ic and 2.5" to the tb. i'm curious what you were thinking of going with? also what others run with a ct?

It's stock... no boost controller. Stock intercooler. Stock turbo.. I do have a different boost gauge that works better but the max I've hit is 7 psi which without a boost controller i've heard I can hit more.. Should I look into a boost controller or am I leaning on more of a leak?

I'm guessing I should invest in a boost controller if I want to turn up the boost a little more to a safe level, correct?

well

here is my opinon on that.

What ever you invest in "increasing power" from a money perpective. Put in a piggy bank the same or 1.5x as much because you will need it when the parts start breaking. Notice I said when and not if. ;)

If this is your daily driver. By pass modding it until you get another car.

not as easy to do when you have to work in two hours with no parts on hand ;)

I think you're seriously confused. Why would you add washers to your Blow Off Valve? (BOV?) Are you calling the wastegate a BOV?

The wastegate is located ON the turbo, looks like the bottom of a soda can. People will commonly shim the wastegate with washers to increase boost (assuming it's done properly). The wastegate's function is to direct exhaust flow around/away from the turbine once the max boost setting is reached.

The blow off valve is used to release/purge pressure when the throttle plate closes.

I understand what you're saying but my bov (Turbo XS RFL) Has a cap that you can put washers, quarters, etc. In order to make sure it doesn't leak under boost.. Its purpose is like that of the hard/soft nut on the greddy bov's ... The downpipe is a custom one my dad and I made at his shop. I ordered the flange from suprasport and from there my 3" exhaust was born it's not divorced or anything. No converter just a 3" magnaflow muffler..

I'm also considering what you guys are saying as far as not modding my daily driver.. With me being in college if something big happened to this car, I would be pretty screwed.. I might just save up until I know for sure it's safe if something were to screw up. Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it alot
