most likely the cold start injector. the orifice in them is very small and often clog up w/ sludge. take it out, clean it with gas, and reinstall.

Problem is, I just did a HG job and basically its a new top end. I cleaned that little bugger in chem dip for a few days. Maby its the connection itself?

Connection perhaps, but check the Cold Start Injector Time Switch on the thermo housing. That could have become inop if you dropped the thermo housing or even just moving it around. Try another one.

First and foremost, take the CSI out and place it in a container, have someone verify that it is or is not spraying fuel out.
Then you can go from there.

Sorry guys, but it does not sound like a CSI problem.
Why not (you ask)???

Because the CSI time switch does not allow the injector to operate above like 60*. Vacaville is in the middle of Calif. The temp gets very hot there in the summer. Nights a very warm too.

I would say...if the car runs very good (idles smooth, around 700-800 rpm, no little misfires, etc) then I would check fuel pressure drop.

If an injector, or the 'one-way' check valve is allowing the pressure to drop off after the engine is off for a few minutes, you will have a longer crank time, as the fuel pressure must come back up.

Amother problem could be the ECU's temp sender switch. If its not within the specs, it can cause the ECU to lean the mixture, or dance the timing around.

No leaks or smoke on start up. I was thinking one of the banjo bolts was loose causing the fuel press to drop but no, nota thing...

I have the same problem.. Here in florida this time of year its about 75 in the am and I have a hard time starting every morning. I drive accross the street and get breakfast, come out and it starts fine. Its that first start after sitting overnight. If we figure this out we should get a gold star.. :biglaugh:

Same! Is it true that the cold start injector only kicks in when it's cold like below 60? What are the other systems that help during first starts? Someone must know...

My car is having this problem now that it is getting colder out...I replaced the time switch with a used one a while back, and cleaned my CSI when I did my head gasket...should I just check wiring? What else should I check?

its normal that it takes longer to start-up on cold start ;) I wouldn't worry about it to much (my '05 RX300 takes also ~5sec to start if I leave him outside). If u want quicker start, try waiting a few sec's in ignition mode before cranking, it helps to preheat wires (if it is very cold outside)

I am convinced it is some other problem. After sitting overnight, my car used to always start quickly but one day this problem appeared. I'm going to look into the ECU temp switch. Anyone know how to diagnose that?

I do believe it should be covered in TSRM.
By the way, cranking time depends also on oil ;) I was using 10w-60 oil and thanks to JDub i switched to 0w-40 and Supra starts up way faster ;) Although thats only my .02

So it was just cranking too slowly?

Because my car cranks fine everytime, you just have to keep cranking it when it's cold to get it to finally start to run...and when it does start to idle, it will idle very low for a sec, then the RPMs will jump up to where they should be (1300-1500 RPM).

I have tried a new connector for the ECU Temp. Sensor, new spark plugs, checked a bunch of things...etc...I'm beginning to think it could be my Fuel Pressure Regulator, or some other fuel related problem.
