Hail storm... FML

Had a sudden hail storm, 3 inch hail. Completely fucked my car. I'm so disgusted I didn't take any pics yet. Smashed the windshield, dented every panel 10X over, destroyed the trim, smashed a tail light. My DIY flat black paint job didn't chip at all though, nor did any of the filler work I did, go figure. Makes me sick, all the time I poured into the body work on the car this past winter. :nono:

So, anyway. I have comp coverage on my car, luckily. Hail is covered. Anyone else been through this before that can give me any tips, or let me know what to expect? I have Progressive online. Haven't had trouble with them covering stuff before, so I hope I don't this time.

I've had comp claims before for hit and runs and break ins... but never anything with this much damage.

Figures. Ah well... when they totaled my wifes old car we made out on the deal cause she was ok with not fixing the damage. Then again, about all I could do with this car now if I don't fix it is maybe run the 24 hours of lemons.

It just started up again... worse this time. Tornado warning... wtf.

The real shitty part is that I have a garage, but it's full of customer cars that are parked in there as a courtesy cause they were calling for storms. So tomorrow I get to force a smile and tell them "Don't worry, your car is fine."

Nope, Eastern PA.

We almost never see stuff like this. I've never seen hail that big my entire life. One of the neighbor's kids was collecting all the ones that were bigger than baseballs... he had a bucket full of them.

We had the same thing in ohio. Thank god my car blew a rad and was stuck in my garage instead of outside where it usually is. Sorry to hear that though, I'd be more than pissed.

That sucks.

We had hail here yesterday, but it was nothing like what you described.

I hope you can get it sorted without a huge hassle.

That might work well, except that if baseball sized hail starts plummeting from the sky, I certainly wouldn't go outside unless my life depended on it. That's a good way to get seriously fucked up. I'll take a smashed car over my own smashed head.

Motorcycle helmet and football pads and you're set.

Of course, by the time you get all that on, run outside, and deploy the rug, chances are the car is fucked anyway.

Yeah this one hit like a ton of bricks. It was sunny out and all of a sudden it sounded like someone throwing marbles at our porch awning.... 30 seconds later it was full on baseball sized hail. It was coming down hard too, it was so thick you couldn't see across town. My neighbor was trying to save his new car with blankets... it got all messed up anyway and his head looks like it was beat with a golf club, lol.

Here's a vid from the local news channel that shows the damage... but the vid at the end only shows some tiny hail for some reason... it was much bigger than that...

I didn't take pics cause I was so pissed. I'll get some pics of the car, looking at it today it doesn't seem so bad. A new hood, windshield, all the window trim, a day's worth of filler work on the roof/fenders/hatch, and a few cans of rustoleum and it'll be ok. The window trim is going to be the worst part... finding used stuff cause new is $$$.

If you grow back from the dead, you'll wake up to Mike and Theresa at your front door, locked and loaded. LOL.

lol.

I was pricing some hoods... I'm thinking about getting a carbon creations OE style hood. For $560 shipped they look pretty good.

My stock hood is rusted underneath anyway, so I'd rather replace it than fix it. Losing some weight would be nice too.
