I personally think that would be the best street setup turbo.. Should make 400whp but still spool quick (3500ish) I say go for it!

Dual Ball Bearing GT30R Turbo assembly with T3 style housing with T3 inlet flange w/ 4 bolt style exit. T04E style compressor housing with 4.00 inlet and 2.00" outlet. Very Good response turbo for 4 Cyl applications. This turbo has a flow capacity of about 500HP. This turbo would be the same as HKS GT3037. The GT30R turbine housings with 4 bolt exit are made out of ductile Ni-Resist iron (has a nickel content of about 38%). This material is much better at withstanding high exhaust gas temperatures than regular cast iron.

Turbine
-Wheel: 60mm w/ 84 trim
-Housing: .63 ar, .82 ar, 1.06 ar
-Maps

Compressor
-Wheel: 76.2mm w/ 56 trim
-Housing: .60 ar
-Maps

Sounds good to me...

I haver driven a 1jz with this turbo, and it was actually quite dissapointing. It had the anti surge housing on it and it whistled like mad, like a dump truck!!!. It also didnt pull very hard. Yes it made 10 psi right away but it didnt do much until 15+ and even then it was pretty lame. That turbo was swapped out a week later and went to a IHI C7. The GT35R would be a better choice, or a basic t3-t4 60 trim.

BTW I run a DBB SP61 and I have full boost at 3700 prm and it pulls like a freight train, 370 whp at 15 psi, 420 whp at 17.5 psi. I love it, and its 550-600 whp capeable.

Garrett GT35 would be a better choice but is STILL kinda small for that car. Should have instant spool up since it is a DBB turbo. Still, if you are looking for a bargain Get a Garrett T60, T64, T67 with a .68 A/R T4 hosuing or Stage III .63 A/R T3 Housing as they run for about $ 650.00 for a REAL GARRETT.

hey, bic, i know who you are talking about but he never checked for boost leaks and such.. knowing all the problems he's had over the years I bet that was just one of them.. I'm sure this turbo would pull good.

i agree with BIC, i had the opportunity to drive a 2jzgte with a single HKS 3037s and it really wasnt impressive at all, you gotta increase the boost to like 18 psi to really feel a difference from the stock 2jz turbos..... SupraNick's car felt better on stock twins in true twin mode.

I'm really not sure on the trim size that I would need for my motor, would anyone mind explaining to me:1zhelp:

Turbine wheels are measured in size as are compressor wheels. However there are several common wheels sizes which are given names like for T4 there are "P" trim, "Q" trim, "S" trim, etc.... For T3 there is StageI, II, III,V, etc... For a STOCK 1JZ i would recommend a Garrett T64 with a T4 P trim. For a 1JZ with upgraded cams, you could go with like a GT4294 to make up to about 850 RWHP. For a complete explination of Turbine sizing, trim, etc... You should read this

I don't know if someone makes one, but I think that a DBB 63mm turbo would be madness. I know someone who has a 63mm turbo and their turbo spools like crazy. Dual ball-bearing would be even better.

Yes Sp makes a SP63, which is known as the "perfect" street turbo for mk4's/ 2jz's. It is 600-650 whp capeable and spools up really fast. Some people have surge issues with it on the 7M, so it might act similar on the 1jz ??. For a budget 400+hp turbo i would reccomend a 60 trim t3/t4, I ran one on my 7m and it made 440 rwhp at 15-16 psi and was a blast to drive.
