I've only met one other MA70 owner in person, and that was Schaef when he came over to help me with my head install. Is was SOOOOOO cool to actually meet someone from this community, and someone who understands the joy and frustration of this obsession.

Ugh... I hate when you see another Supra driving down the road, you pull some stupid ass illegal U-Turn to catch up w/ them, roll beside them for 10+ miles and they wont even look over at you... maybe he was like "OMGZ A MKII!1" and he thought his mkIII was soooo much better. :icon_bigg

I'm so glad that the local Supra scene is starting to get bigger her in Southern IN, hell I know of 7-8 owners now in about a 30 min range now and we're out in BFE.

I'm still waiting to be on the other side of the "OMGZ A MKII!1" and actually have someone walk up to me for a change. :icon_conf

Yeah, the message was hard to convey with text, but I've seen the car once before. Passed by in the center of town, but I had to go to work. He's had it for at least a year.
Even if he stopped to tell me that I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't be as upset with him. It's the simple fact of the matter that, fellow supra owner or not, common courtesy just isn't so common. You have someone asking about your car, intent to buy, talk to them. Tell them either
A: thank you for asking, but the car is not for sale.
B: sorry, i can't talk i'm on a tight schedule. thank you for your interest, but i'm not interested in selling it.

if someone came up yo me and bluntly asked how much would i sell my car for,i would not be an asshole, but basically say, yes, you could not afford it! my car is my sanity,my therapy,if you will. working on it,washing it or detailing it,it just calms me down. after all i have put in it,cool things i have done to it,yada yada yada,no,you can't afford my peace.

True. It did have rust around the rear wheelwells and some random primed areas. He just seemed like a typical guy driving a typical car. Not an enthusiast by any means.

If someone came up to me and offered to buy my supra, naturally I'd entertain the thought. It's not unheard of, everything has it's price. If the price is too high, then you're not the right buyer. Simple as that.
I don't feel as if I was out of line or anything. I would be flattered, actually, if someone was like "Dude, is that your Supra? Would you sell it?"
Could be just me, but I view the approach of a stranger with an offer to buy your car as a sign of flattery.

I think part of the problem was the approach.
If it was done in a more friendly manner, rather than straight to the point, he may have taken a different direction to his answers.

Im not saying that the question(s) were rude, but seemed very strong and to the point and he may have taken it the wrong way.

I come from a land down under
They're all "just cars"

I could never understand people elevating a machine to some mythical status but I guess I've been around a lot of expensive machinery so may be somewhat jaded ;)!

Before the brakes my car was pretty mundane looking except for the wheels and being lowered, so most people did not give it a second glance...

Now I get the "why don't you have a real exhaust on there" comments all the time.. LOL The observant ones would catch the E-01 screen, and start asking questions, but now that that's gone, I'm hoping for more blending into traffic most of the time...

That being said, if someone asked me about my car, I'd either stop and talk for awhile, or let the person know that I'm busy, and would like to stop and chat, but need to get my shopping done. (Etc.)
