Started the car yesterday and everything works fine except for that the RPM ans water gauge doesnt move, but I was thinking that it maybe is because I dont have the drive belt yet? Or sould I start to look somewhere else. Every other lamp on the dash is working.

I don' think you need a drive belt for the water gauge to work. did you get it hot enough for the gauge to register at least 50C - 60C ? My stock gauge doesn't move until 130F.

And the RMP I have no idea. I had to put stock 1jz tach in mine for it work. My stock one didn't move and never found out why. So I just replaced its with JDM one and it moves now.

rpm
1. wires not correct
OR
2. you cut a wire somewhere
go back and recheck the wire harness

water temp
the gauge should still move but not much because the water is not moving through the system
take the sensor wire off and ground it
and see if the gauge goes all the way up
maybe another bad wire

Mine is a turbo from the beginning so I have the turbo tach. Feels weird if only 2 wires are failing and not anyone of the other but I guess I have to check on that anyway if it isnt any fuse or something.

yeah mostly I've seen the wiring of the tach signal causing the tach not to work. On the m1 connector, there should be a thin black wire which is for the tach. Jst make sure the tach signal is getting here from the ignitor. )( also a black wire). I would run a wire direct to the black wire on the m1 connector to check first.

Same thing with the H20 signal. make sure the correct wire is on the temp sender.

Well i have checked the fuses and all of them where good, also checked on the wiring and i think they are okay to. The yellow/green wire is the one to water temp light, that sould be the water temp gauge right? The wiring sould be correct to the wiring schedule (spelling?) that i and many others have used. Dosnt the alternator have something to do with getting tach to work, so there maybe are a signal that is missing, just a thought?

Sorry don't mean to threadjack, but where is this M1 plug at?

RWHP: i have the same issue you do with my RPM and Water temp doesn't work. The thing is sometimes my RPM works, but my water temp hasn't worked since I've owned the car.

I runned a direct wire from the ignitor to the M1 connector, but the tacho didnt move.. Seems like the ignitor dont send out a signal, so whats next on the check list? :) Can i use the 2JZ-GTE workshop manual to troubleshoot?

you checked the dome fuse by the driver side kickpanel?

there's no way your car is running without a tach signal, problem is with wiring from m1 connector to tach or the tach itself.

Will check the wiring again, but is this for any help?

Only find one fuse on the driver side kick panel that was wasted. The engine fuse on 15A was in pieces when i took it out but that one sould be for the alternator. Didnt find the "dome" fuse, and the gauge fuse was okey.

Dont think this sould have anything to do with the tach and water gauge fault, but since i replaced the stock boost and oil pressure gauges with 2 autometer i had to drill up a hole on the backside so that the D connector on the backside isnt put in. The D connector goes to alternator, IGN fuse, security and oil pressure gauge, and since the water and tach signal uses the A connector this souldnt be a problem i guess. I saved the female part fr the D connector so that i can plug it in again.

Im confused why the gauges dont work :1zhelp:

you should run a wire directly from the check connector tach signal to the black wire of the tach on the M1 connector. I am able to run my tach this way for my setup. This will give you an idea if the tach signal is coming though all the way pr not.

For the water temp gauge, do the same thing. Run a wire directly from the H20 temp sensor ( yellow/green? ) to the M1 connector for the gauge. Also recheck your dash ground on the M1 connector make sure it is grounded. Yo umay also want to pull the water gauge and make sure its not burned up. My oil pressure gauge was burnt up and wasn't working.
