Getting older....

Today I went to pick up lunch. Went to MOES! While I was there these 2 girls abut 17 or 18 at the most were trying to find out who left keys on a table. They were the classic Blonde cheerleader type in way to short shorts that would send someone like me to jail if I even looked at them longer then a few seconds.

They came up to me and said "Sir, are these your keys"

I looked down at my keys that I was holding and that they could see! and said no.. and went on with my purchase. Then I got in the car and it hit me. I have become a SIR!! I get into my car from 1990 and drive to my house and eat my lunch .

So 2 17 - 18 year old girls assumed I was a SIR , they were trying to respect their elders. I AM ONLY 35!!

That's nothing. I was at Oldsmar Flea Market yesterday looking at this porn shop and the old fart there came up to me and said "son are you over 18?" I looked at him and said "I am 22, need my ID". He didn't say anything and was just watching me. It turned me off from the store and I just left.

I was about to buy some more DVD's if it wasn't for that lol. I guess I wish I looked a little older. The whole asking me for ID thing is getting annoying as hell.

I'm 25 and get the "Sir" all the time. I'm Air Force obviously and a Staff Sargeant. So, anyone that's E-4 and below usually say Sir to me. Usually makes me smile because....They are respecting my authori-tah (cartman voice)

Well thats diffrent!! haha , I would think that you have earned the "SIR" , and you smile because you have worked hard to get there. I just had to live for 35 years.

Its was more the way they did it, you could tell by looking at them they were thinking "Lets ask that OLD GUY"

oh well.. im over it now.. Hopefully there are some positive things to being a sir!

I don't like being called "Sir". I didn't even like it when I was in the military. Maybe it is because I didn't like the change from "Worker" to "Supervisor", but after I made E-5 I still did my best to get out and turn wrenches ALL night and keep a good rep with my subordinates. I told them "We have a good time on this shift - we work hard and do 95% of the repairs in this shop. We're friendly, but the first time I have to wear my Dress Blues for something negative because of one of you, we're not going to be friendly anymore."
"Sir" was something I told my guys to call the Officers, and to call me "Sergeant" instead because I work for a living.

I know what you mean about being called "Sir" though, in public, away from the military. I've been out just over a year now. I'm not 30 yet, but I'm getting there. A few people have pointed out a grey hair or two, which would be alright except for I have light colored hair; I must have more than a little bit if it can be noticed.
I am still carded - most of the time - so I guess I'm not THAT old yet.

If they call you sir it's no big deal. How would you like it if they keep repeating sir several times because you couldn't hear them the first time.

Ha... a similar situation happened yesterday to me... I am 20 granted...

Situation 1.

a customer was complaining about her teenage daughter and what not, and then asked if I had any kids (In regards to teenage kids)

Situation 2.

Co-workers were talking about ages at work, I asked a new one how old they thought I was, they said 29...
