I need to primer my car. I did some body work today and Im hoping to sand it tomorow.

What grit paper should I buy?

Also my car will be two tone with a dark blue color above the trim line and a light blue below the trim line. Should I use a dark primer for the upper half and a light primer for the lower half?

Is it possible to do all this for...20...5...1...$26.00?

I think 200 will be too rough it will show through the primer. I would use 200 for shaping any bodywork, then go over it with 400. Make sure to cover all bodywork with primer. I made the mistake of not doing that in a couple area's and a couple spots came through my paint. Remember if you can see it or feel it most likely it will show through the paint.

I just got through doing the same as you and had my car painted, over all I am pretty happy

I've only got about 2 quarter size dings to fill on the whole car.

I have the option to drop it off at the local college and have the students sand and prime it for free, and the shop teacher will paint it. I just dont know if I wanna leave my keys with a bunch of kids and a lazy shop teacher or do all the prep myself and take it to a shop to get sprayed. The shop teacher does a good job painting, Ive seen some of his work but his turn-around times range from weeks to months.

Good advice, do just as he said. Also remember, you can never have it too perfect. I always wet sand (with 420) the whole car to make it as slick as possible.
