Today a friend and me were just out cruising in a 94 t/a and we seen a BRIGHT orange mk3 turbo. So we proceed to follow it onto the free way. We finally get a open stretch of road and pull along side. The mk3 down shifts and so does buddy, then go for it as supra takes off first and immediately the lt1 comes to life and starts to pull on the supra. Then as the supra shifts into 3rd gear, i hear what believe is to be a bov, i turn my head around to see the supra slowing fast and a ic pipe hanging down. We slow to a crawl on the side of the berm to see if the car was still running. The car was still barely running so we left(we had seen a state cop earlier) and seen him pull away later as we went by later. As we drove by the other way he gave a wave to us.

:Cliffs:
t/a pulls on supra and supra blows ic piping while racing.:biglaugh:

LS1? Try LT1, and for a car that just has an intake and dual exhaust done and run a 12.8, i think thats not too shabby. I never ran at the track with my mk3's, but how much usually does it take to make an avg mk3 turbo run a 13 or better? I road raced more than strret raced anyways. Also, 89turbotoy "come to cinci and bring that t/a i'll send it home wimpering. LOL" He will take you up on that offer. Since his gf lives down there and hes moving to cinci for college. So i'll tell him to look for you. :icon_razz Also, by then, he'll have his procharger hooked up and running.:naughty:
:EDIT: 89turbotoy and what is your times at the track again?

And i have a honest question......how much have you spent on your car(not including cars price) to run XX.XXX seconds in the 1/4? I really want to know your costs to judge that vs buddys cost.

The topic creator used to have supra(s), and I forget why he sold them. Then he just changed his name to that name, lol.

ive had 3.5 supras. 1986.5 n/a-eletrical nightmare, 1987 turbo car- had no motor and friend needed a roller car, and a 1989 turbo roller-(the 1/2 car)bought for parts. Lastly, a 88 turbo that burnt up due to a turbo oil line faliure.
And also, im not bashin supras, i just dont like them, what is SF?
89turbotoy, you have 800 dollars in your supie and your running a 13.6? Now, compare that to 650 dollars on a lt1 witch runs a 13 or better. Im not out to start crap or anything btw, the supra owners started it once again.:nono:

Stock 7MGTE, a motor created in 1988, mind you, with a complete 3" turbo-back exhaust and 9psi (shimmed wastegate), ran a 13.76 @ 105mph.

That was a loooong time ago. She has not seen a race track since then.
I've made quite the advancements in upgrades from then...so, how much money have I spent to date? Probably $7,000+, excluding the car itself.

But, let me ask you a question: What year is this Trans Am we are speaking of?

HOLY CRAPS! BTW, the t/a is a 1994. That motor was dogged as a junk motor by import racers at local track and import meets. Also boost, whats your times at track? For 7k+ on that car and you could be 10sec and lower very easily.

I vote this to be the dumbest thread in history. Who gives a fuck that a T/A can be fast in the 1/4. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out. Why do people like you come onto forums just to talk shit. I guess it makes you feel good that your friends car is fast.:3d_frown:

Well, my 83 firebird should be running 12s or better this year. I loved the looks of the mk3's, but not the engine setup. If money would have been no object, id gone and built a custom toyota carb'd v8 swapped mk3. But since i live in the real world, i'm going to use a car that dosen't cost me tons of money and i don't have to worry about bhg's. i was this close to buying a mk2 and turboing it (holds fingers real close), but the car had sold before i had returned with cash.

Listen, man. I don't think any Supra owner in this thread has any bad intentions about your buddies T/A beating a MKIII...

But when you come into a thread showing pure ignorance, you can only expect but the worse.

Don't take what I'm saying to you in a negative way, but if you've been through 3 A70's, you should know damned well the causes and faultiness in the 7M's headgasket.

Uneducated on this? I'll be kind and explain.

Factory torque spec was uber low for what it's worth, being Toyota's fault.
15-20 years later, the only reason 7M owners complain about a BHG is very simple...and I'd love to stress this ... but I think the answer is very clear:

The owner. Period.

All my 7m motors were done by import racing shops. The motors were milled and used mhg's. Also, i had used all arp hardware with the moly lube. I noever went above 10 psi so i never woulda thought id have a bhg again and again.
:EDIT: so can you see why my sn is yota h8r?
