at the cost of buying a trans am, you could have bought a mkiii and tossed the rest of the cash at the engine and you;d have a faster car. that and transams just look like longer sunfires to me. lol

I love owning domectic cars and trucks for that very reason, and many more.

i bet my supra with "all that it had done to it" with just a set of lowering springs can outhandle and nuke a 81 camaro with a leaf spring setup and a live axle any day of the week.tturnpaw said:ive worked on more of my friends' sbc's than any of my cars ive owned (escort lx, gt, mustang gt, Toyo pickup, Talon, F250, sentra) sorry but regular 350s and lt1s are just cheaply made right off the assembly line...even cheaper than the mexican 302s in mustangs. I dont prefer anything over anything but i can tell you that the most reliable sbc or bbc is one that has nothing stock but a block.
I dont care who was playing with who, ic piping falling off is like your maf leaking to me...nothing worth saying they broke down over. Especially when it could have been a loose coupler due to the owner, not reliability.
And about camaro's handling, my friend with the 3kgt also has a 81 camaro w/leaf spring assembly, and all that it had done to it suspention wise was they were mounted up higher past the subframe. That thing handled like crazy. Of course, it was customized by a circle track racer who has experience, but thats besides the fact.
I see your point about not seeing them everywhere. Also, yes the opti-spark wasnt a very good distributer setup. There is a kit to run a normal style 350(first gen sbc) distributer on a LTx. Also, only in 1994 a trans am could be ordered as an Trans Am GT, if you have a good set of tires, that car handled very nice for an live axle setup. The trans am was a drag style car, where the supra was a road course racing car or GT as some may call it. Also, the 82-02 f-bodies ran whats know as a three link rear end. Two control arms, a torque arm, and the track bar. Not a leaf spring deal. Also, why am i still here if i hate toyotas, because i can. There are a lot of people here who dont know a mk3. Latly, my sn was more of a inside joke. A "friend" owes me 500 bux for a supra, soooo....thats why i "hate" toyotas.nosechunks said:I love owning my supra because i dont see 12 of them wherever i go.
Speaking of the LT1 and how great is it, i guess you never herd of the Opti-spark on the LT series. Nuff said for reliability.
