Ok crew I've tried using a 2nd known working pump relay and the same thing occurs.

i asked someone else a question off the board and they were very cool and helpful. i'm pasting what they told me........................ so others the have similar prob could refer to this. My original questions was:

hi,

it reconnected and i wanted to ask you off the forum i didn't want to confuse things.

i had a 2nd working one and reconnected that one and then noise still occurs.

would the fuel rail try torepressuriz its self after doing a timimg belt?

ANSWER:

"That relay is controlled directly by the ECU. If swapping another one doesn't fix it, then you most likely have a problem with the ECU or EFI main relay.

NEXT STEP

is to see if my EFI RELAY has been blown or not working correctly. Can some one offer me relief. if my ECU has been damaged my car would attempt to start at all RIGHT????? LOL

Fuel pump relay is controlled by the circuit opening relay on a turbo car and the AFM on an N/A car. Both are controlled by the ECU. And why are you looking at the schematic for the 7M is you have a 2J?

I'M new to all this 2j????????? I have 89 non turbo THAT must be 7m. where did i confuse people along the way?

i'm getting confused. my original problem is that fuel won't stop pressuriing in the fuel rail and people are trying to give me helpful ideas. Is there one of a few cause to this?

Your profile says you have a 2J. If you have a 7M the info I gave you above is valid. It's a simple circuit so it shouldn't be hard to find unless the car has been hacked. With the key on unplug the circuit opening relay. It's in the passenger foot well. If the pump stops the problem is either there or the ecu. That's for a turbo car. If you have an N/A 7M I'd also be looking at the AFM. The advice to screw with the fuel pump relay was completely wrong because it's always closed in one way or another.

I found the circuit opening relay and as soon as i pulled it off the noise stopped. would this be true to 7m non turbo? "

If the pump stops the problem is either there or the ecu.

I found out what the AFM is and it fine. just a quick FYI this car was running fine til i did a timing and sparked the battery this must have cause me electrical damage to these components. i'm getting a ride to auto to buy what i need any way that anyone can answer me back asap.

Air Flow Meter. Federal law says the fuel pump must stop when the engine isn't running. It's to prevent people from becoming crispy critters. This is the job of the Circuit Opening Relay which in your car is turned on by a switch the vane/flapper hits in the AFM.

So if the fuel pump can't run how do we get the engine started? The COR has two coils. One is turned on by the starter so the fuel pump runs during cranking. After the engine starts the switch in the AFM turns the second coil on and keeps the pump running. As long as air is flowing into the AFM the pump will continue to run. In a turbo 7M the ECU handles the second coil.

Unplug the AFM. If the pump stops there's your problem. If not you'll need to check the COR and see if it's either stuck closed or maybe the starter circuit is turning it on. And when will people learn not to work on their cars with the battery connected?

Change your profile so it's accurate. It's tough enough doing this without having to play 20 questions. Either that or when positing state the engine type or use the N/A forum.

I'll have to confess. I understand the abuse i'll get from this. But after going out the car and really inspecting it, i found that the fuel pressure that noise was coming from a hose underneath this picture. It was vibrating the fuel rail but thats not my problem.

Can anyone tell me what this component is? I'm search and reading my haynes repair book, but haven't found it yet

Sigh. I could be down at the bar/pool with my Brad Pitt look-alike first officer beating off groupies but no, instead I'm here. Someone smack me.

That's the idle speed control valve. It's powered when the key is on but since it doesn't shut off when the fuel pump or circuit opening relay is pulled it can't be your problem. If the noise disappeared when those relays were pulled you were probably on the right track. The fuel regulator and return line are in that photo. Bottom line is the fuel pump isn't supposed to run unless the engine is running.

Since you're going to be so understanding wtf is wrong with you? You don't know an oil pressure sender from a chromium finnigan pin, don't have a real TRSM in spite of owning two of these cars, and can't do basic electrical troubleshooting Why are you trying to fix this thing? Take it to a mechanic...

Hey listen. I’ll let that go because I said that I’D get some shit for I started off this thread with the fuel rail and not the hose at the bottom of the speed control valve.

You were cool till you the part about WTF is wrong with me. After reading some of you headlines, such as land of the giant asshole, it tells me that’s your personality and your just and angry dickhead.

BUT I gotta tell you this and YOU DON’T KNOW ME and I don’t know you. ONE OF USE is bound TO BE BADDER THAN THE OTHER AND CRAZIER. Calm down.

Lets get back to your car problem.
Did you check the circuit opening relay with a meter to see if it short circuited?

Let us know when you checked it and if it is okay.
BTW check all your fuses too.

Cheers,
Roy

Wtf? Yeah, that's understanding. You "let it go" real well. Everything about that post is pretty good for someone who's "not 18"

You couldn't identify the oil pressure sender, don't have a TRSM in spite of owning two of these cars, and can't do basic electrical troubleshooting. You seem unable to even identify your current problem. Yet you're tying to fix the car. That approach isn't stupid? The only thing more stupid was my trying to help you. I won't make that mistake again.

I'm illiterate? Lol...

I needed that ;)

I violated pretty much every rule I have in responding to the guy. He writes like a 10 year old, hasn't a clue about the car, makes no effort to learn on his own and doesn't have a service manual. He wants to be spoon fed. I've ignored hundreds of posts for the same reasons but gave this guy a break. I may be an asshole at times but I refuse to be an idiot. He can sit and spin for all I care.

I'm not even going to go through the dozens of spelling, and grammatical errors in that post, like Adam said, it really does hurt your brain trying to decrypt it!

You need to calm down, and stop talking so much shit. You're making yourself look like a complete fool, and asshole.

You don't get to comment on anyones Literacy, when you don't even spell your screen name correctly :biglaugh:
