the fuel like from the tank is a hard line which connects to a soft line with then bolts to the side of the engine mount which becomes a hard line leading to the pressure dampener and then fuel rail.

the connection between the first hard line and soft line is impossible to get off
any ideas?

if i cant get that thing off then i have to come up with an alternative

my plan was to disconnect it there and place a soft braided steel line bypassing the dampener (from driftmotion) but i cant do this without disassembling that connection

!!!!! help!

Are you referring to the fuel line that connects the hard & soft lines with a union? I won a massive battle with mine the other day (after nearly rounding off the 14mm nut) by using lots of PB Blaster in several applications, and the going to a medium vice-grip and 19mm wrench. Came right off :)

PB Blaster works wonders for helping break loose "stuck" nuts & bolts.

For those fuel lines, the best thing to use would be 2 flare wrenches. Using anything else, you run the risk of rounding off the nuts on the fuel line fittings. If you don't have either of these (PB Blaster & flare wrenches), then it's time for a trip to your local parts store.

You'd be amazed how much easier it is to work on your car, when you're using the right tool for the right job.

How about telling the audience what "P.B. blaster" is.. for those of us that don't know.
Is this a product that is national, regional or is it world wide? Is it another name for Liqiud Wrench? Apparently, I've been sleeping or It's not sold out here.

The Internet is more than a global pornography network you know:

http://tinyurl.com/5r5rph

It's a mediocre product. There are better penetrants out there.

WoW!! I learned a lot,, "there's an internet now?? "HuuuH"

"Penetrants" you mean as in porn?? I never heard of the "Blaster" here in California but there is a lot porn here. "Calipornia."

Redacted per Title 18 USC Section 798
Keep in mind I never said the stuff doesn't work but "work" is relative. Blaster is mass marketed and there are always products used in specialty industries that usually beat mass marketed ones. I prefer a couple of aerospace products called ACF-50 and Corrosion X. Both are designed for corrosion control but by nature are excellent penetrants.

Just though it was ironic you could have found out in a tenth of the time it took you to type that post. Blaster is sold in California. I see it in stores all the time. I don't use it though.

Tenth of my time: worth my time for some bad humor, yeah seriously I v'e never seen it here, my it's because I have drawer full penatrants. No, really Who sells it In Ca?? Auto parts stores?? Walmart?? Really though, I learned something, today,..thanks! Jetjock!

Hmmmmmm...................interesting.

Both can be ordered online for around $1 per oz. I may have to give one a try, to see if I like it any better.

ok back on the topic

so i tried everything i have
14m wrench + penetrating oil
and i managed to get the darn thing almost off
but i was unsucessful and i pretty much rounded off the bolt on my last try
not realizing that i was going in at an angle

i looked at the fuel hardline and it pretty much goes all the way back to the tank
has anyone re-done those fuel lines?

I am at the same point. I have rounded the 14mm nut (Using a flare wrench) the hard line is no longer tight but the joint refuses to budge???
Anyone know the thread size for the flare nut (inside not the wrench size)
I think I can cut the line get a flaring tool and remake the joint. A new hard line is only about $25-$30 but I really don't want to removing all 6ft of line back to the tank. Ideas anyone???

Alright dont mean to be a pain in the ass but im trying to think of what section you are talking about. The first one that comes to mind is the bracket that bolts to the side of the block and on the top of it a hard line bolts up with a banjo bolt and its basically the same thing on the bottom. Is this it or is it lower??

how are you guys having so much trouble. the only time i ever have touched what i think your talking about is when i pull the motor. if i remember right its a banjo bolt for the line going to the mount. i just use a 2ft extension with 14mm wobbler. works everytime. the main problem i had was gas going all over. if you don't mind me asking why are you taking this apart?

I needed to replace the hard line from the pressure stabilizer to the fitting on the side of the engine mount and the driftmotion piece required you to take off everything up to the hardline leading from the fuel filter

which is underneath the car by the drivers side wheel well
it is connected by a 14mm and i believe 16mm fittings
but it is sealed with some sort of stuff that makes it refuse to budge
i got a serious workout trying to get that thing off and i just ended up bending metal

has anyone ever heard of Magna-Clamps? im wondering if this is the solution
i heard that you can attach it to the aluminum hardline and seal it shut without problems
but i could be wrong
which is why im asking before i go this direction

You have to remove a small plastic guard down near the transmission slave cylinder to get to it. There are two fuel lines down there; one that is just a hose & clamp and no problem, and the other that is the 14mm / 19mm union.

Speaking for myself, I'm pulling my motor and leave banjo bolts be whenever possible so I don't have to worry about crush washers. And it was the specific joint mentioned by Grimjack & JJ in the "49 Easy Steps" writeup. :)

It's sealed with corrosion...

Spray it with PB Blaster, and WALK AWAY. Let it sit overnight even...

^^ This and a vice grip.
