well everyone i have achieved rod knock. or i think..:1zhelp:
here it is
well lately my thermestat will go all the way up to hott but the radiator cap is warm not hot at all. so i fugured the thermestat is fucked. well last night i go to pick up my friend and when i pulled down the street i put it in to low and i heard clickclickclickclick beetween 2000-3500 rpm.. immediatly my heart sank. i pull over and when it idles at 700 rpm it makes the noise. clickclickclick. so i look at my temp and its normall but my fuckin oil pressure is at 0:aigo: so i go and i buy oil and it takes 4 quarts untill the fuckin dipstick reads full. wierd because i just changed my oil 4 days ago my self and it was full. all that did was make the noise a littledimmer. now the noise is not loud at all but it is coming from the 300 pipe area by the plugs or under the 3000 pipe or right under it slight behind. the car drives and i cant feel it or n e thing. like i sadi the noise comes at 2000-3500 rpm and at idle. well in a way it doesnt matter to me, if it is i will drive on it and when it dies everything is going and i can do my 5spd swap bigger turbo and everything. but if it isnt wtf is this...

ok now ill sit right here lookin at every post answerin it immediatly:1zhelp:

first of all how the hell did you let the oil get that low to need 4 quarts? You aren't checking your oil at least once a day are you :O

Let me ask, did you replace the oil drain plug gasket when you changed your oil? Is there a nice puddle of oil under the car?

What does your temp have to do with rod knock though? BHG and Rod Knock are two seperate things, you need tocalm down and work through the issue.

Go out and start unplugging injectors one at a time until you can get the sound to go away. If possible get up a video/audio clip of the noise so we can hear it and help diagnose it.

Don't Jump to conclusions just yet. Rod knock isnt necessarily a click click sound but more of a hammering sound and it most def wont be coming from your 3000 pipe area lol.

1-well i did the oil 4 days ago and 300 miles isnt gonna take all that oil damn..

2-no oil leaks

3-i have no clue im nervous and i dont want my car to be fucked.:)lol

4-cant do a clip but if i go outside and take of the on injector at a time they wont spit shit out will they? ive never done that. and if the sound does go away then im misfiring and an injectors bad right.?

5- lol this isnt a hammering noise:) thank god

Its a turbo supra....

CHECK THE OIL EVERY DAY YOU GET IN THE DAMN THING.

Also, put some water in the damn thing. The reason why there isn't any heat in the rad cap is there isn't ANY WATER IN THE RADIATOR.

Change the oil into a CLEAN PAN. Inspect for metal shavings and debris. Also, take the oil filter and cut it apart. Again inspect for metal.

no, go outside check the fluids fill as necessary. Start the car let it warm up and go through each injector starting at Cyl #1 (furthest from drivers seat) and unplug one at a time, try and see if the noise goes away. Replace injector and move to next injector until noise goes away.

If it doesn't go away its not rod knock, which means its more then likely something simple IE: Valvetrain noises.

Sorry to hear that man, Try this.
1)Pull one of the plug wires
2)start the car on 5 cylinders
3)listen for the noise
4)Still hear the noise, shut off car and re plug in the plug wire, removing the next plug wire in line.
5)Repeat 2 and 3
do this till the noise goes away, the piston that the wire is pulled on if the noise goes away is the one that is knocking.

Hope this helps

A firend of mine had 0 psi on his supra, knocked a little and he filled it up with oil. Knocking wasn't as loud anymore. One week later, motor seized...

sorry man, ....gotta say it

injectors should do the same as this but without having to shut the car off. This might be a bit more accurate though.

u fubared ur engine... if u have metal shavings

Yup, those metal shavings came from somewhere.....

4 quarts in 300 miles? Either the bottom of your car will be dripping oil from a massive oil leak or you smoke screened your entire county from burning that much. :aigo:

Not good, you need to find where all that oil went to. Thats alot of oil to be loosing. If you have no leaks then it must have been burned or you have chocolate milkshake for coolant.

LOL, me too. I hate that factory idle pressure is so low, freaks me out constantly.... need to get an aftermarket gauge.....
