I'd appreciate some advice on this. I just finished putting everything together and it won't turn over. Is there something I missed? I can't see anything disconnected but am puzzled at this point. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!!!

I'm not familiar with that trick!
ya the factory alarm if you have it? will disable the starter if the battery connections are lost.. i always put the key into the ignition to the run position before i reconect the batt. keeps the alarm from tripping, try to lock and unlock the door with the key . check that previously mentiond trigger wire at the starter to.. let us know..

The small clip on the starter is connected. When I went to get into the car today the alarm went off. I'll try disconnecting the battery and turning the
key to start and see if that does anything. I have to go back to work until 9:30 tonight so I'll try it when I get home.

Decided to disconnect the battery as suggested while on my lunch hour. Still not getting any power. Everything else seems to be working. Any more suggestions? Thanks everybody!!!

Try locking/unlocking your car using the key on the drivers door. Then try to start it. If that doesn't work, try the same procedure with the passenger door.

Have you tried jump starting it?

There is 2 wires that go to the starter....A big thick one and a small thin one.

Put a jumper on the starter terminal that the the small wire that goes to and touch the other end of the jumper to the battery...Should crank over and start....if that works then there could be a problem with the starting circuit...Also listen to see if the starter relay clicks.

Cheers,
Roy

I put the jumper on the small terminal and it did turn over but burnt the wire before it started. I didn't prime it so I don't think the gas got to the engine in time. What does the small wire that goes to that terminal do? Also, thanks for the suggestions everybody.

There are two wires that connect to the starter. One is a large cable that comes off the battery direct and the other is a 12 gauge wire that activates the solenoid. Usually if a starter doesnt work its the smaller wire that is disconnected or a loose connection on the big one.

Hmmm must been a short somewhere....When I test my car by hooking up that small wire to the battery and as soon as the engine cranks over i disconnect the small wire it works fine. Do not leave it on when engine starts.
I forgot to tell you...when you do this, leave the key in the cranked ignition postion.

If a wire gets burnts, it usually means there is dead short somewhere that causes excessive current. Check to see that there is no short to ground between the big wire or the small wire to ground.

First of all check all the fuses and relay in the fuse panel in the engine bay.
Then make sure the wires connected to the starter are tight and the terminals are clean...mine was full of dirt...

Roy
