while we're on this topic I just got to give a shout out to the people who support our cars ie; duane, ron, 935, driftmotion, BIC, HPF, MDC, titan, megan, chinaman, etc, etc, etc. for sticking around and supporting our 14+ year old cars. and developing products for us when the rest of the aftermarket has pretty much stopped. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

i was looking for a project car when i found my supra. i had 3 requirements: 2door, manual, sleek. i had looked at a 280z and was strongly concidering getting it, but i decided against it when i looked under the carpet. i come into work and ask jonoturbo if he knows anyone selling a car for cheap. he showed me the white 89 NA on the forums that i ended up buying. even with no ac, PS and turbo, i still love the car(and that when i shift into 2nd, the wheels cut loose). the funny thing is that my 02 altima sits outside and that the 89 supra is covered :)

I got my car last summer and have been working on her for the past year and it has been the best time of my life. I mean I wish she was running now, and I have had a lot of headaches, but what project car doesn't? I will never sell my car no matter what anyone offers me because of all the hard work, blood, and just pure love for my car. I hope to add a rhd 1jz next to her in the near future or even a jz mkiii so I can truly enjoy the mkiii experience!

Well, in all honesty *puts on flame retardant suit* I was looking for a 240sx when I found this site. I saw a picture of a supra on here and went

Then I realized that the gorgeous car I had been staring at in a driveway in my subdivision with no back window and all broken down was a 1990 Supra :) Naturally I had to ask if he'd sell it--AND HE DID! So I saved this poor car from his abuse. Here's the car's story:

The car was this morons daily driver. He thought his oil pressure gauge was an "oil gauge--you know to show how much oil is in it". Oddly enough when it got to 0 the car just locked up! IMAGINE THAT! So as the car sat in his driveway someone threw a brick through the back window of the car and it sat like that for about 8 months before I finally talked to him. He agreed to sell it for $1000, and thus it began :)

Now, another 8 months later a new motor is finally going in it (thank you B005T3D :)) after being dicked around by 2 other people. She should be running in the next week or 2 and Im ecstatic

Share your supras stories everyone!!

Okay, here's my story...

My 16th birthday was coming up, and I wanted a car soo bad it wasn't even funny. I have always liked cars as well, just had never had the chance to be really exposed to the more technical side of them. I had been searching relentlessly for a celica (I totally had my heart set on this car) I had about 15 pages of listings written down in a spiral notebook, and had went and looked at around half of them. I find one Celica, an 89 Hatch in OKAY condition for $1400, so i was like yea, i want that one...well, the guy that was selling it was a druggie, and on a two-hour long drive (drug run) the motor siezed, because he ran it w/out oil...so scratch that. Here's a pic of it:

p322361_1.jpg

I went and looked at a bunch more Celicas...none I really liked, then, while I was on Recycler.com, I noticed "Supra" under the model listing, and I was like "what is that"? So I looked, and sure enough I saw my first baby, the white 87 NA hardtop. Here's the actual picture that was on the listing:

p322361_2.jpg

So I went and bought it, and I was like whoa! This things really fast (lol, noob)...But it did have some problems, like brakes, and some drivetrain stuff, so on the third day of ownership, I was driving it to the mechanic to have it inspected, keep in mind this was the FIRST time i had driven it, other than the drive home because there wasn't any insurance on it yet. Anyway, while I was sitting at a light, with my grandmother in the passenger seat, I was rear-ended by a guy going like 40, and didn't even hit the brakes. (He looked down to get his cell phone!). Here's the carnage:

p322361_3.jpg

p322361_4.jpg

So i was devastated, and wanted to kill that guy, but I didn't :biglaugh:...so there wasn't much I could do, and his insurance was going to give us $1,200 for the car (I just paid $2,100 for it) :nono:. So then three or so days after that, I was driving to school, and at about 6:30AM, as i was laving my driveway, this lady in an RL hits the front of the car...I was like no fucking way... I still didn't have any insurance, so of course the lady was like "oh, it was your fault, it's your fault", stupid bitch...:nono:...she was asian by the way :biglaugh:... Here are some pics after that happened:

p322361_5.jpg

p322361_6.jpg

So then I had no other choice but to contine to drive it with major frame damage, up until the end of 11th grade, and halfway into my senior year. Supras are tanks!! Well, inspection time came around and I didn't want to deal with it anymore, and wanted one that was better, not damaged or anything...so I sold it for $900 to some guy.

Then the search for another Supra began, I looked and looked, just like before, but I wanted a Supra that looked almost identical, except it had to be Pearl white, Turbo, Targa, 5-Spd, with Burgundy interior...so i found what i was looking for in Riverside (70 miles from here) but, it didn't run, it was an 87, and had a BHG, and was a gross polluter, as well as 200,000k miles :aigo:. I drove out to look at it, and the body was straight for the most part, and I :love:ed it!!! I decided to buy it ($1,200), and had it towed back to my house, where I got it running...then the BHG was painfully evident, after about two weeks it was parked. Some pics:

p322361_7.jpg

p322361_8.jpg

p322361_9.jpg

p322361_10.jpg

So then I fixed the BHG, and a billion other things :aigo:, and it is now running strong, and I am on Supramania constantly! I think I am addicted! I hope everyone enjoys my story, because it was relentless, and my hands hurt now :p...I love my Supra!!!!!!!!!!!

Before the Supra I had always been a domestic guy if it didnt have pushrods and a bowtie on it I didnt want to have anything to do with it my first car was a 1954 belair Coupe I miss that car  up until I got a Mk3 my daily driver was a 1971 Chevelle the first Supra I had was an 83 p-type all I wanted was a light car that handled good that I could beat the piss out of autocrossing then I learned about the 1jz  I think that motor is amazing and also I like cheap reliable speed thats why I'll still never give up on the good ole pushrods but the Mk3 really opened my eyes to the import world before the Supra imports were just traffic in my Chevelle's way, I'll never get rid of the Mk3 boost is like crack and im hooked :1zhelp:

hi, my name is dustin, and i am a supra addict.

my supra is my third car. i first owned a jeep cherokee and my mom blew the motor, then i got a celica, i was reer ended at 55 so that car was done for... the search was on for the new car.

i had recently started to get into cars in a BIG way (not because of f&f) and wanted to get a fast car to have fun in. my first thought was an rx-7. while on the hunt i stoped by a little auto dealer to look at an 87 rx-7, well the thing was just gross. BUT... there it it was, my supra-to-be.

i didn't know it yet, but that was the on i was soon to buy. before i did i teast drove several other cars including an 86.5 n/a. from that experiance, i knew the supra was it. i went back to the first place where i had seen a mk3, and drove my frst turbo car.

the boost was like cocane, i just had to have it all the time; so i baught my 87 maroon turbo targa, right then and there.

http://www.supramania.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9549&stc=1&d=1156975597

i was hooked and now i will never be without a supra again. my goal is to own one from every generation.

QUOTE]

Hi, my name is Scott, and I'm a Supraholic........

I'm older than Johnathon, so it may go longer. When I was 15 1/2 I bought my first car (with my own money). It was a primer grey 67 mustang w/a cammin 289. Car was junk, but very fast. That car lasted about a year and a half. Sorry no pics.

After it died, I had a brief period of no car, until I bought another 67 Mustang. It was a neighbors car who had the car since it was new (15 years). It was still all original, and looked terrible. I totally restored that car, and entered it in a couple shows, as an all original 289 car. Here's the best pic i could find (doesn't do it justice):

p323058_1.jpg

I had an older brother, who had the liking for Toyota's. I tagged along as he tried to buy an 82 Supra when they came out. He couldn't afford the payment, so he ended up with a corrola. I secretely thought the Supra was a cool looking car, but no match for my stock Stang, so I laughed at him for even looking at it.

Right then, I formed a liking for those cars. Not long after that, I got married and sold the Mustang. I did 6 years in that miserable marriage with various family cars. We had bad financial problems, and when we split, I let her have the car. That left me needing a car, with very bad credit. But, I knew where one of those cool old Supras was on a lot that would finance me. Here's my first Supra:

p323058_2.jpg

p323058_3.jpg

I loved that car, but soon found out why it was on that lot. The crank bolt had been stripped, and rigged to hold long enough to get it sold. The crank was bad, and the motor was rebuilt soon. I drove that car for 7 years, until ::bhg:: . I had a mechanic freind of my brother in law repair it for cheap, but I had to help. This was my first of any mechanicing i had done other than a water pump or oil pump on a Ford. That gasket lasted a whopping 3 months. I decided, since I watched the last time, I would do it myself. I got it done, but it didn't seal (probably cause I knew nothing about lapping a block.......no idea it even needed to be done). This is why it only lasted 3 months the first time. Only lasted a week when I did it. So it was old, rusted, and broke again, and I was re-married by then, so it was just parked.

Six months later the wife told me it had to go, so I called the local classifieds and put in a part out ad. I hoped I could get $500 out of a few parts before it got hauled off. I was listing stuff on ebay when i stopped to place the ad. Went back to ebay, and a light bulb tapped me on the shoulder.......tap....tap......."hey, why don't you put an ad on ebay parting it out." I thought they would cancel it. It ran the whole 7 days, and got me 500 e-mails. I made $3500 on that car!!!!!!

So, I knew where one that looked just like it was sitting. I called the tire store it was at and talked to the guy. He said $200, and I could come by after work and drink a beer with them and look at it. I said hell if we drink a couple maybe I'd get it for $100. He said yes!, and I had my 2nd parts car. Made only $2500 on that one. Then, I had to hunt one to part. I found an 88 turbo, which had already been robbed of a lot of parts. I didn't know much about the MKIII, but I knew ebay. I looked and saw an ecu sell for $135. I e-mailed the second highest bidder and told him I was gonna buy a car, and would give him the ecu for $125. Turned out he was local. I bought the car for $300 and made back $125 within the hour. I made $3500 on that car too. I parted 1 more mkiii, before finding my current car, and have now parted 7 total MKIII's. Prices have dropped to almost give away , and only certain parts will even sell. So, my job as parts guy is dwindling to almost nothing.

The story on my current car is a great one.

I was running newpapers in the middle of the night for extra cash. One night, while making my way to the route, I passed a car lot in the dark. Cars were out front, then I passed the building (side view). There was only a one car driveway between that building and another building. But for some reason I looked that way, and the clear part of the passenger tail light is all I saw. "OH Shit.....That's a Supra". I quickly whipped it around, and checked it out. I called the place the next morning at 8. They wanted $2800 for it, and it was near perfect. It was a 2 owner lot, and the silent partner owned the Supra. I tried for 2 weeks to test drive it, because of key issues. The car disappeared, and the guy at the lot didn't know where it was. Finally it was located at the Toyota dealer. The head gasket was gone, and the car all the sudden got cheap. I got it for $800.

I bought it a motor off ebay, and paid to have it put in. Well, you guessed it, the ebay motor was Crap. No big deal, it came with enough extra parts to get my money back. But, it was back to the drawing board. I had an internet friend who had a JDM block, with internals, and new head gasket already installed with head. I made the 700 mile drive to get it. At this point, I had torn down several 7m's, and I knew where everything went. I just didn't think I could do it. With the help of Supramania I got it together, installed, and it cranked on the first try.

I left out a couple cars along the way.

After the first motor failed, I bought (financed) my 87 Turbo to drive until I got the grey car going. Notice the wheels were borrowed while the grey one wasn't running.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

My intentions were to drive it until the grey car ran, and sell it. BUT.......Hell NO! These cars are in my veins now. It's not going anywhere. It currently is getting a motor due to BHG (believe it was there when i got the car) I drove it losing water for almost a year, that's why I'm replacing not rebuilding.

And last but least.........While I was single, and driving my 85, I bought another old mustang. It was a very low mileage early 65, with a 289 3-speed. Major restoration on that car, but I have no pictures of it finished. I do have one picture of the seats that I recovered, but no exterior for some reason. It was painted Red, but was an original Silver Smoke Grey car. I stripped it to the bare metal, and had factory color put back on. The gas tank leaked on this one, so I never drove it. I sold it when I got married again (Damn Women).

p323097_1.jpg

This car is a multiple show winner now. The guy who bought it lives 20 miles north of me, but i still see it now and then.
