My car will shoot fire after a couple long 3rd and 4th gear pulls. I don't get the loud bangs but after I let off the flames will linger there for a few seconds. Since I can't hear it, the only way I usually see it is if it's at night. Looks like light made from someone using their blinker to change lanes in my blind side. Caught me off guard at first. I thought someone was about to change lanes right into my car. >_< and it looks soot on my bumper that I have to clean up after...

i bet you would... supra dead possum drive by flinging at pedestrians :-/, yes, i too would roplolmao (insert p for pavement because i would most likely fall out of my car)
I always thought this happened because decent rev limiters work by cutting ignition. So you blast out your fuel/air mix directly into the exhaust and when the next cycle fires, you get hot exhaust gasses that ignite the previous mixture.

And I agree with you Shaeff. When my car used to back fire it was kind of funny at first. but it gets kind of embarrassing. Makes people think you drive this POS and have no idea what your doing around a car.

My Z with the Twin Turbo Toyota V8 had dual 4" sidepipe that at first were pretty well straight out with a couple of basic baffles in em, being short and big on overrun it would flame a lot!
On a dark road it would light up each side of the road for 50 feet or so and once I had a friend in the car and as we passed a cyclist so I made sure his legs were hairless

I had a basketball sized fireball come out my exh after i finnished disposing of a r32gts with a rb25 transplant. On the overrun from 5th down to 4th. Mate told me (he was way behind but caught up) Didnt know it had happened. Im running a 3inch turbo back with a gutted cat, trust sus muffler.
