If you can source a set of FD Rx7 stock wheels, they make for a good, cheap drag setup. They're light, but still 16's. As for tires, I have 275/40/17 Nitto NT05's on Mk4 9.5" wheels, and I'd love to see how they do out of the hole launching on boost. Trouble is, nearest track to me is over 100 miles away. For comparison's sake though, they're VERY sticky for a street tire, and I have yet to even chirp them really... Launching on boost would be a whole different story.
What you should take away from this though, is that you want as much grip as you need, but no more than necessary (for weight reasons). That, and Devin's a beast with the results to back up what he says, so I'd listen to him.
