I couldn't stand looking at the muffler I put on when I first got the car any longer, so I hacked it off and welded up a new axle-back section...

I found this muffler on ebay, it's made by Jones Full Boar exhaust (in the USA) and for $45 shipped it was a pretty sweet deal. It's their Max Flow SS model. It's 409 stainless, fully welded, perforated core with stainless wool and ceramic wool packing. The interesting thing is the tube that goes through it is one mandrel bent piece, not a a diagonal pipe welded in with separate welded outlets. Supposedly it flows better than maganflow offset mufflers because of this. This is a cutaway from their website if you can't picture what I mean.

I also picked up a 180 degree 3" 409 stainless bend and cut it to make the Z shape I needed.

I needed a new muffler hanger cause the stock one was rusted, so I found a muffler hanger from my old eclipse and bolted it to the left hanger bolt hole and welded a hanger bracket I found on an old muffler in the scrap pile to the new muffler. Worked out beautifully.

I also needed a tip to extend the exhaust to the back of the bumper, so I cut a piece of the 304 stainless pipe from the old exhaust and repolished it. I didn't want a "bling" looking tip. This one is nice and classy.

Tacked and ready to weld...

Done and painted silver.... (which I decided looked odd)

So I repainted it flat black.... much better.

It sounds really nice, it has a good deep growl at idle, but it's quiet on the highway, and it sounds nice when you open it up. I'll try to get a video if I can (I only have my cell phone, I don't know how well it takes video).

I don't know why all my text turned into a link... please ignore that. I can't seem to fix it.

Looks really nice.
Post a sound clip if you get the opportunity. I plan to replace my fart can with a Borla once I get to my engine build stage.
Still working on the front suspension stage though, so it has to wait. But I did buy the muffler and the tips:

I think I'll copy your example though, and paint/ powdercoat the muffler black- looks good.

I just sprayed some black on the rear of my muffler and realized it makes the rear look a hell of a lot better without a really obvious metal oval sticking out the bottom. Nice job on the exhaust, in for a sound clip, too!

Looks very sleeperish if that's even a word. The fact that the muffler is oval makes the piping look smaller than 3" which is good. Looks clean Destrux. On a side note, anyone ever use the black vibrant mufflers?? I'm wanting to use one to get rid of the fart cannon behind my SUPRA

Thanks.

The tip really does look small, even in person. It bothered me at first but the look is growing on me.

I took a video with my phone but the mic on my phone is garbage, you can barely hear the car. I'm going to try to borrow a video camera or something.

I took a video with my digital camera, but it doesn't sound quite right, the mic on the camera is pretty low quality. It's also MUCH louder than in real life. Either that or maybe I'm going deaf.

Here it is anyway. I really need to save up some money and get a decent video camera, like a go-pro or something.

I think you just created the template for my future exhaust... Mind you, I just bought a DM cat back system that I'm still waiting to receive...
