Get New contacts.

It's MUCH cheaper.

I think there is a spare floating around in the garage, so will swap it over and see how that goes.

Open up the section with 3 phillips head screws and check out what the contacts look like. (it'll show you how worn your starter is.)

I spent about $2.00 USD at a local hardware store for a couple copper bits to fabricate into the striker contacts for the solenoid bridge and saved myself a CHUNK of change on my 5mge starter with the same issue. Later did the same on my 7M but got the "right" parts. MUCH cheaper and relatively simple to do.
