I also seem to remember that the Veyron is electronically limited to it's top speed....

sorta, there is a special key you have to have to be able to top it out. i guess if bugatti don't think you need the key when you buy the car, you don't get one

a cD of .357 is actually pretty damn high. Only slightly lower than that of the Veyron's (.36 with wing down and in lowered position - .41 with wing in "attack" mode).

Compared to the Koenigsegg CCR which has a cD of .297, and the new CCX, which supposedly has a drag of .277.

I'm pretty sure that SSC is using the DART billet block, as seen in this guy's build: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1948784

Me personally, i think the front is fucking hideous. Lord it's ugly. The front windows are straight from a diablo, but the back half is nice. Its just.... piss poor american styling as usual. That being said.........

I'm working on getting a private photoshoot setup there for next spring :) It might be ugly, but its still damn cool and impressive!

isnt the supe .31 mkiii i mean

Me, I'd rather have a McLaren F1. It looks better, and that NA engine surely makes it easier to drive. Plus, that third seat qualifies it as a grocery-getter!

Good lord no its not easier to drive! The F1 is soooo tricky. Its so light, and the motor has so much power instantly, that thing is all over the place. We had one stop by the dealership for a few days while the owner was out of the country. Its an impressive machine, but certainly not "easy to drive"

it is a full on race car. Easy is not the right word. More like if you know how to drive, the car will do what you want it to do.

Sounds to me like the other cars in this class would be much the same. The Veyron, the F1, the Saleen, this SSC Aero... Without looking up the specs, I suspect they're all similar weight, power, etc, mid-engine race cars. My statement still stands: I do suspect the NA McLaren F1 is easier to drive than a Veyron.

I think it was Carroll Smith who said something like, "If your race car isn't easier to drive than your stock street car, you did something wrong." ;)

I disagree I think the Fatron makes a LOT more concessions to being a real car with manners than any of the other exotics.

That and you have some hope of putting it's power down in anything less than ideal conditions, listen to the SSC whenever the Chin gets on it it's breaking traction at the slightest urge.

This may be amusing for 5 minutes but trust me it soon becomes and exercise in frustration and futility :(

im just shocked that its american. And even more shocked that its half the price of a veyron. And the cooling system is so effective on this vehicle. Normally going over 200mph you have to have a cooling off period where this car you dont.

Very interesting stuff.

Who cares about colors, or body styles or whatever. Everyone has their taste.

All you people talking about the drag coefficient being less than stellar are forgetting about the other key ingredient to good aerodynamics, the frontal area. It may only be a .35 but the frontal area is tiny compared to a mk3 with a cD of ~.32. Another interesting fact is that the first gen vipers have a horrible cD of like .50 or so, but also have a small frontal area to make up for it!

That car is definitely badass, but still a little pricey in my mind. Sure its a greatly priced when you look at its competition, which basically consists of the veyron, konigsegg, and a few others, but I still don't see where all that money is being dumped into the car. Maybe they are just keeping it pricey to cover their low production and R&D costs. Which would make sense I guess...
