That's absolutely ridiculous that a company such as Brembo would sell rotors that are too thick and not correct the problem as soon as they knew it existed.

Powerslot, all the way. I got mine for $75 (I believe) a piece from Jeff at HPF, but he doesn't work there anymore. My dad recently replaced his rotors and wanted to get Powerslots for the front and eventually do OEM (I suppose) so I talked to Ron (dealt with him before) and he gave me the same deal that Jeff did. I bought the rears for my dad at the same time just to be nice.

I've also heard very little good about Powerslot. I have no experience with them on Supras, but a while back a bunch of people on the Intrepid forum I hang out on started buying them... within a year, most of them had to replace them because they were cracked.

Hell, even MVP motorsports tells you not to buy them -- and they're the seller!

"Made in Taiwan. Low quality in our opinion, not recommended. But if you want them we can supply them.

We highly recommend you spend a few extra dollars and get the made-in-Japan Rotora rotors instead."

(from their website)

BTW, does anyone know of an online store they -trust- that sells unmolested Brembo blanks for the MKIII? I'm always wary of doing business with a store I'm not familiar with. (By "trust," I mean you've ordered from them before without incident.)

If you want regular brembos, just go find any brembo dealers and buy the stock brembos. As long as it's not drilled or slotted, it's a true brembo. Some parts store carry them too.

Brembo OE fronts... $33 each......

eriol, check www.935motorsports.com

theyve got the brembo blanks, and custom machining available if youd like. or you can go with the porterfield rotors, which are brembo blanks that have been destressed/heat treated.

I've heard that Rotora rotors are crap.

935 Motorsports? I would've bought from Robert, but his customer service record is fucking horrible. I can't even estimate how many threads I've seen asking why he hasn't returned phone calls and emails. I'm sure there is a much larger percentage of people that have bad experiences with him than those that post threads about it.

This discussion is in no way 7M tech, just to throw that out there...MODS.

i havent dealt with 935 yet, but ive noticed that they seem to have a pretty good selection of parts. oh well, quantity can't take the place of customer service.

Sweet, thanx for the suggestions -- $33 a pop for Brembos sure as hell beats the crap out of $95 apiece for Bendix rotors at Advance.

Brembo blanks are great.

If anyone can supply pictures of the Brembo blanks (and box) for $33 I would be interested. I sell brembo blanks for $69 currently and that is just above cost, I wonder why they are so cheap.

The rotor cracking varies. My old drilled rotors cracked, yet some daily driven supras here have been over a year with no cracks. At the same time, one track session can nearly break a cheap drilled rotor.

Hmm.... I'm also wary about that, Tubbie. "if it sounds too good to be true..."

Have you ordered from these guys before?

A quick search isn't telling me anything bad about them, but that could just mean that they're too new to have earned a bad rep yet. Resellerratings.com has one review of them, with a rating of 7.5/10. So they've delivered at least one order.

Hmmm, I have drilled Brembo rotors. Mine came with my car, 3 years of owning and no sign of cracks and I drive my car hard often. Just sitting here I guess I can not say for sure, however my rotors' "chamfered" edges appear to be cast last I saw... I am of course referring to the rough, bumpy surfaces often associated with cast metals.

You don't need to remove the axle nut to get the rotor off...

Thanks a lot, dude. I'll have to get to that shortly after I get my Supra back from the dealer.

*Ponders* Oh, I can't wait to get her back to lovely Southern California so that one master tech in particular can work on it. It'll be nice to put it in the hands of somebody who is skilled on the car itself, the aftermarket parts I have chosen to go with and most importantly of all-somebody that I trust.

My Supra has seen better days, however far better days lie ahead...

www.hop.com check it out sometime.

so general consensus around here would be brembo blanks as the best choice for a rotor upgrade?
