Sounds like you have found a limit then.. I did this on my turbo max a few hundred times. The fix i came up with was to cryo freeze the stacks. You will have to compleatly dissassemble the trans and remove any plastic. Don't forget the needle roller bearings between the gears can't remember if the cage is plastic or not. Turn around time was pretty quick, and cheap too i sent mine to one cryo.
In the end it went from ripping the teeth off 4th gear every 3 months to lasting 1 year of daily driving till i missed a shift racing a porsche. Under that type of load the shafts will flex and push apart from eachother, then the gears are not fully meshed together make sure you have proper bearing preload upon reassembly
Well just alittle update for now the car is going to go auto to get some times out of it, I do intend on maybe one day going bck 5-spd just to make the 1k mark because I know the car can do it. If not I'll build another one. See everyone at TX2K9!

we should be coming strong for texas.. it will be fun..
it will make 1k easy.. he just needs to stop being lazy. still needs to swap cams, new head, add the direct port and put i back on the dyno..

Being lazy and being broke are two different things, and then everytime I have the money I take a vacation or I just dont have the time. If someone would keep me from going to NY every month it'd be done. And though I'm lazy nobody is as lazy as you Sean. Now I have pretty much everything just need a fuel pump and more NOS!
