Has anyone actually tested this to see if it does anything?
(Have to wonder why Toyota decided to NOT drill the head?)

:word8kn: Cant see it NOT making a difference but if it throws off the way coolant flows threw the block/head it might actually impair flow. Though the coolant that gets trapped in the back of the head cant help anything either.

How does it get "trapped"?

You have a big arse Banjo back there into the heater lines/bypass hardpipe.

If someone can show me that this actually does something I'd happily pull the head off my fresh build and do it but I've never seen anything other than anecdotal evidence.

As I said Toyota had to have a reason to not drill the hole.

Because theres no hole for the coolant to rise up from the block to give it flow where the other cylinders have holes. the only coolant to pass threw there is the already heated coolant from cylinder 5. where if there were holes, cooler coolant could rise from the block.

unless it flows differently then how i picture it.

Well the whole design aspect of the head's ever since yamaha didn't do this one is questionable to say the least. I am almost 100 percent positive that the 6m's had this opened up.

+1 to that but if someone can prove it works in two weeks or less ill do it cua then ill put my motor back together with 2 more new additions

You "might" see some cavitation errosion on the head surface there if there's a trapped air pocket but I can't see how this is going to improve cooling at all given the 2 large ports at the sides (back of the block is a dead end for the coolant anyway it's not going anywhere afer #6)

#6 suffers a bit as it's the last cylinder to get the coolant so it's been heated as if flows by #1>#5. if you could tap into the block between #3 and #4 and route the water pump outlet there you'd see a benefit.

This drilling the head just seems to be yet another "Supra Urban Myth" that hasn't really been thought through or tested.

How about tapping into the turbo feed line with a T-fitting and route to the drain hole near the #6 cylinder?

not worth pulling the motor apart to do, though 6 runs hotter even with the egr removed also it is close to the fire wall
