I bought a Masterpower T-70 from Miketurboinc, and a used SSAC manifold from a member. So its time to start looking for a 4 bolt wastegate. I've searched around and didnt find much very interesting. Tial sells a 41mm wastegate but im not sure if its the same flange. I of course looked on ebay but then read some reviews and decided an ebay wastegate would be a very bad idea. Whats everyone using?

The 50mm "HKS Style" ebay wastegates have been doing well in my personal experience on my my setup, roomate's setup, and on many other setups that have seen a lot of abuse and many miles daily driven. Also, keep in mind that even the "real" ones can have catastrophic failures.

Just my $.02

our just cut off the flange and weld on a Vband flange for the Tial V44. Thats what I did.

Thats exactly what i would do..I wouldnt really want to take a chance on something controlling my boost.

i've seen several of those ebay hks style wg fail. if that were to stick closed, you'd run insanely high boost and possible kaboom. there was a thread on here a while back about taking it apart and polishing the rod or something that was supposed to help reliability, but i would rather not take the chance.

mine was cut off and a tial flange welded on.

also to note, often you have to cut the flange and rotate it anyway for clearance often times.

Man you guys are just making more work for me. I dont have welder, but I do have access to one no problem. Thing is I cant really have my car apart for too long. But if i really need to do this then i will.

Anyone have pics?

picked mine up at 320.00 brand new.

I don't have a pic but do you really need one? it's not hard to do at all. The flange comes new with the wg. if anything take it to an exhaust shop and ask them to weld it on...

I was asking for pics from people that had to cut and move their wastegates. Welding a flange on is not a problem at all.

I cut off my 50mm Greddy flange and put a F38 Tial 2 bolt flange on.

FWIW... the 50mm HKS clone wastegate springs fatigue... IE getting weaker with the more heat cycles it goes through.

Go TiAL and never look back. :-D

I was wondering if I could use a 38mm. Just wasnt sure if it was too small for my application. But if Brent is using it then its got to be good enough without a doubt.
