Add in all the computerized traction features... they are pretty intense.

Not nearly as bad ass as the FQ models available over the pond, though.

I'm 4-1 against EVOs so far(blue and black car together). Stock and modded. Dig, slow roll, highway speeds.

They're not all that great at highway speeds. Alot more formidable from a stop.

with under 2k in mods, ive seen people hit mid to low 13s...
I'd bet they can do mid to low 13s with under 1k in mods. exhaust, dp, boost control.

I've seen a best motoring of an EVO running a 13 in a wet condition.

They're great cars. An EVO is currently a record holder at Japan's Tsukuba Circuit. HKS' Cyber EVO.

in my 86.5 with ~11 pounds of boost, 3 inch exhaust and spearco intercooler i was about even with my friends evo 8 that had a 3 inch exhaust and a flashed ecu.

that was from a 4th gear roll on the highway. at the track with that setup i did a best of about 13.5 and i think he did a little better than that.

not exactly. my car was very lightly modded, but i had a rebuilt engine.

id say a mkiii with a very HEALTHY engine is about on par with a new evo 8.

on the highway they run out of steam, and once you start replacing the stock turbos you really cant make comparisons anymore because then all bets are off, any car with the right knowledge can be made to be extremely fast.... and the evo is a great platform to do that.

That is pretty much right. I work with a guy here doing mid 13's with a bout $1,200 in mods, and a whole lot of time tweaking the ECU. That is what is nice about them , the ECU can link up with software on your laptop via a serial cable or something. It's like having a full standalone right out of the box. You can pull a lot of power out just from tweaking the stock fuel and ignition maps.

I'm guessing with that 1k, Will. People can shop around and find good bargains. An EVO has a pretty good advantage on normal street tires being AWD.

It shouldn't take a whole bunch of money for a MK3 to do 13s... A competent 1/4 mile driver is probably one of the best mods alot our cars lack(mine included).
