Engine wiring harness

I'm removing my engine wiring harness and the engine is still in the car. I've taken one off before, but the engine was on a stand. I've got all the clips undone, I just can't get it out from under the intake manifold. Is there a trick to do this, or am I going to have to remove the intake manifold just to take the harness out?

Taking off the Harness while its still in the car and on the motor is a complete hassle...

Is there a reason your not pulling it with the engine? Its much easier lol, all you do is remove it from the firewall
and 1-2 clips then it comes righ tout with the motor.

But yes as the other poster aforementioned it could be the way it was re-wired before.

When i had mine the person had wired it through the intake so the only way to remove the harness
was to take off the lower intake manifold.

Did you get the grounds, there are two down there. And the trans connectors, starter signal wire, 2 knock sensors, 2 VSVs,

+1. Without removing these you can't get it out. Also, I had to remove my starter in order to remove the rear knock sensor wire.

I bought the car from someone who had the engine rebuilt. The harness is all chewed up, which is why i'm replacing it so I don't want to pull the engine.

I have another harness sitting on my floor to cross reference, and all the grounds and connectors have been unplugged. It looked like those wires were fed through the hole in the intake and it's catching on it when I try to pull it through.

After messing around with it for another few hours, it still won't come out. I'm 100% sure all the wiring is disconnected, it's just get caught on something. I'm going to remove the intake manifold tonight, as I need to replace that gasket anyways.

Removing the intake will make things a lot easier. I recently pulled my engine and left the harness in the car. I had to remove the intake.

So I pulled the intake off and got the wiring harness off the car. Only problem is a few of the intake bolts weren't fully tightened and one was completely missing were the lower intake connects to the head.

Also there were small puddles of oil sitting in the intake manifold. It can't be good, any ideas what could be causing this?

Man, I hate that wiring harness. Just one more example of how difficult things are to work on in a Supra. Congrats on the removal, though.

Oil on the manifold = leaking cam covers or crankcase breather hose, common, but not good.

Oil in the intake = pcv blowby, common and normal, up to a point, of course. Excessive blowby indicates other problems, i.e leaking valve guide seals, worn rings, etc..

Would an oil catch can be a good idea to eliminate this oil buildup?

This motor was rebuilt recently, but I was thinking the rings were shot before I discovered that oil. I'm going to have to check those valve guide seals next. There is also oil buildup on spark plugs #2 and #6. Hopefully I'm not going to have to rebuild it again.

It was fed through a hole in the intake and also jammed behind one of the metal lines leading to the edge of the fuel rail making it unable to move when I tugged on it.
