... The motec is the ONLY ems that allows for direct input of a wideband. All other EMS require a seperate wideband system to do that and then pump the 0v-5v out to the EMS.

quoting myself because I can..

that statement is now INCORRECT.

The Wolf 500 now has this capability of directly being fed by the wideband.. no need for an AEM UEGO or Zietronix etc!!.. One less box to buy :)

The money you will save by going MS, buy a wideband. No big deal. AEM around $250 shipped.

Also, there are tons of other standalone maps that you can just plug into Megatune and drive to the dyno and get it tuned proper.

so what about the hks vpc im guessing nobody likes it then

I believe those aren't made anymore correct? They are kinda hard to get a hold of and I wouldn't trust buying an old used one for the price most ppl want for thiers.

Megasquirts knock sensing is in it's final stage of Beta testing on the bench. All they need to do is hook it up to someone's engine, and test it out!

I just talked to Matt at DIYautotune and that was explained to me. I just purchased my MSII for my 1JZ, and I can't wait to get it intalled! I had the 4bar map sensor installed too, and you are provided with the calibrations.

For the price of a VPC in good condition, you can go standalone with a MSI. As long as you have a laptop then you're set.

The VPC-2 is alive & well in JDMland ... MVP offered to get one for me, but I decided against it, primarily because I'd never figure out the Japanese instructions! The old style, that you see f/s used sometimes, can't support big injectors - one of the limitations of going with that kind of piggyback.

Have a Friend that I can talk too about getting a VPC Setup with all the Sensors and PNP harness for the MK3 for roughly $500.00, I am going to try that setup out and see how it does... More to Follow

so if you go and get the MSI system and then buy the MS-II add on, then it will basically be up to the same standards as the best standalone systems out there? i have read quite a bit on it. its looks like a great setup and its upgradable too which is what i really like about it. i heard theres not too many guys running this setup and i have no idea why. i am deff planning on going this route once i get the chance to rebuild my motor and put all my stuff on it.

VPC *will* work with 720's and a s-af(c|r). It's the ignition timing map in the stock ECU that is the problem. Lower the fuel pressure a little bit and you
should be somewhere on the useable side of "the edge".

My opinion however - it sucks. That's why I sold it along with all of the other piggybacks (s-afc, avc-r, s-itc) and bought an AEM EMS. Plugged right in and has a decent user community providing support. If I were to do it again I'd consider Megasquirt or Autronic. Motec, EFI Tech, etc are nice but too expensive for this car.

the price of the VPC rivals that of the Megasquirt these days for a VPC having all sensors and harnesses.

The Megasquirt does so much more than a VPC, and it is not that hard to wire up.

I'm sure anyplace that installs radios and does a little custom stuff could wire in a Megasquirt for you. It shouldn't cost more than having a car alarm installed, it's something like, 19 wires on the Megasquirt total, not too many.
