More boost never happened. The car has never been off the stock wastegate, the boost controller never hooked up. In the short term, I was a fool for using the MHG after I changed blocks, but in the long term, I was a fool for ever trusting my engine builder for as long as I did.

Fitting an MHG to a non surfaced block 5 times ISN'T bad luck..... :nono:

In Emilios defense it was on a machined block all up until we swapped blocks with my spare jdm block I had in the corner. And the oil burn was replaced with bhg.:1zhelp:

Like I said in your thread Sean there are a bunch of people building that should just step away from the tools :nono:...

Ian, there is nothing that can be any truer. Finding a good machine shop is getting so hard these days and with a 7m and all the little things that need to be done, it simply isn't common knowledge for these guys that build SBCs all day long.

Same guy that built 92NSX's engine... Guess where I am not going now that I am building my engine....

So far I am happy with my engine Jim built for me. Just need to replace my turbo now. But we will see. I took her out for a 45 min cruise last night. Ran good even with the 95 degree temps and 80% humidity.

He seems to have done a perfectly good job on your engine rob...he's done mine twice and both times...oil burn.

He must have been asleep at the mill. Hopefully now that I have him behind me I can just move forward with the parts that I do have.

Im just guessing, but your block could have been cracked some where and Jim never check it for cracks. But it is just a guess.

Thanks for checking it out...shit certainly gets boring when all the time spent on the car involves "Stage 0" modifications...getting the damn thing running. Fingers crossed this will be it though.

I think that's a distinct possibility, the block actually IS cracked, but not in a "vital" spot. It's broken near the oil filter neck. I'll get a picture up late tonight hopefully, and hopefully I can spend a little time getting more of it apart for a new HG.

We'll see what happens...a Targa Supra would be fun, but these damn cars spend more time being worked on than running. An MR2 may actually be in the near future...
I almost never work on mine except oil changes and it seems pretty happy :nono:
Do it right and you won't need to.

Ok, so I got back to working on the car. I replaced the HG with a new stock one - torqued down with ARP studs. The car is all back together and now it doesn't start - just a relay clicking and then nothing. I tried the battery from my DD, and same problem, so I know it's not the battery, hopefully further troubleshooting will occur a bit later in the week.

Do you think my old block is worth selling? I'm thinking of just bringing it to the scrap yard.
